I took my truck in for service; it needed oil/rotation, and check it out before a road trip. I got a text stating they did the inspection I needed
this now in RED:
fuel flush
brake flush
air filter
VPS gas treatment
In the future, in YELLOW
diff flush
Here's where it gets interesting. I had fuel/brake and diff completed 2 months ago at the same dealer...WTF? I checked the multi-point inspection sheet:
Front Differential Caution
Rear Differential Caution
Brakes Caution

Why was it marked as cautious? I called the service department, but they went off of the mileage and didn't check my history. What's the point of a multi-point inspection if you don't inspect? Then......I pre-paid for 3 oil/rotate; this would be my 3rd one; the sheet said 49.00 to balance. Have you never seen that before? The dealer said they don't balance, only rotate again.......WTF? He says, believe it or not, many people don't want their tires balanced; I think it's just society for some reason.

Most dealer service departments seem to be untrustworthy , scumbag , less than qualified liars , 99.8 % of the time.

Find an independent shop, recommended by family or friends.

Every once and awhile a good dealer will be found , however it’s not often.

Maybe someone on this forum has a recommendation .

If you insist on a dealership find a different one and try them with something small that you can verify the work was completed correctly.

I see your from Dallas. It would be a drive but, Moritz CDRJ on the west side of Fort Worth is my preferred dealership. Been going there since 2012. Zero complaints about their service department. My son says he’s had good experiences at Huffines on Plano Pkwy in Plano. I judge a dealership on their service not sales department. Dealerships need to figure out that good service drives repeat sales and customer loyalty. High pressure sales and dishonest service will get them one lifetime sale.

Your valid questions and concerns need to be addressed with the service department manager, or the dealer principle.

I'd be more shocked it you discovered the service department wasn't trying to swindle you.

Been using my local dealsership service department for about 7 years now. Seems like the tech writers you meet when entering can be great or terrible but I've had mostly good luck with the ones I've encountered here at Dennis Dillon in Caldwell. I must say, however, it pays to do your homework before you go in. Read your owners manual and know ahead of time what services need to be done to your rig before you walk in. Pay attention to both time and mileage on the intervals. Just yesterday I took my 2013 RAM 2500 in for an oil change. Waited for it to be done and while waiting got a text message from my tech writer to watch the video the technician just did of the vehicle inspection. Was very thorough. Showed air filter condition, battery voltage level, tranny oil condition, brake pads remaining, tire wear, leaks, and overall suspension condition. I know other dealerships are doing this and I think it can be a major game changer when it comes to them earning your trust and being professional. I know Acura does this for my wife's MDX and it's very much appreciated. You can also save them to your electronic history folder and share with any prospective buyer of your vehicle when it comes time to sell it. Insist your service department do these, or go to one who does. I gave them 5 stars out of 5 for their review. Check out the video: https://tru-vid.com/97bee3600d20
