It's not usually that bad. I'd say that's a seller that hopes you hit the buy now button before you notice.

Reasonable costs would be acceptable..everyone has to make a $ for their efforts ..but add exchange and then a gas sur charge which is bogus as the shipping is in part the use of gas etc..It will just encourage ways to deafeat the unreasonable. I saved $65 CDN on a Vararam by picking it up in the US on a trip.

When I see something like that I find another source.some businesses just don't like shipping to Canada. Luckily I'm close to the border so if I'm hard up for something that doesn't ship here, but free in the US I pay the couple bucks and pick it up at one of the mailbox places just across the line.

Agreed. This system here is so flawed and corrupt.
I hemorrhaged cash getting my recent three box order over to Ontario, Canada full of oil and filters.
Albeit, I still saved just over $400 doing it this way because again, us Canucks get screwed on pricing.
Our US friends pay $13.99 for an RP 20-820 oil filter. We pay $35 to $45 dollars for that same filter here plus tax (if you can even find these filters in Canada from a reputable source).

Actually what you guys are saying makes sense. We should work together to cut the expense if everyone does not mind helping out..without any cost to the participants. Canuks would cover their brothers expenses and pay the canadian and any expense incurred..but i bet it would be less than going direct to the US..especially from Western Canada. Worth looking into..

I'm still a member on the LXForums, and the community there is equally incredible as it is here.
Members were doing pick up runs for individuals and groups all the time, and then working out logistics and meets to hand out the items picked up, and just get together too.

I gave up on that site.Everytime i try to post i have to re-join ,and i got tired of jumping through hoops to join it,as it's one of the hardest sites i've ever found to join and stay a member of.

It's changed greatly, and I don't disagree! It was a lot more user friendly back in the day.
I joined in 2010 and since they remodeled the site a while back it's really gone down hill.
