Serpentine Idler pulley

Hi I am based in the Uk, I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 5.9 Diesel 3rd gen. I am trying to locate the idler pulley on the top of the engine. To date I have had little success. I have a new serpentine belt and belt tensioner. The idler pulley is the grooved type and the max diameter is around 123mm. I do not mind sourcing the part from a US supplier if somebody can supply their details. As I understand the later type/aftermarket pulley does have a larger bearing in it, which is preferable. Ideally a supplier on the East coast maybe better because of shipping costs. I do not know how that works in the US. Anybodies help would be very much appreciated. a simple goole search will show you exactly where it is in a diagram of your motor.

I'm not sure why you would put your email in your question either. To me, kinda suspicious.

Hi I am trying to find a replacement idler pulley. The one I have has slight play in the bearing. I know where it is on the vehicle, that's how I was able to take it off. Putting my email in was purely for possible convenience to any body who had actually read my post and wanted to reply with something constructive to say.

To be fair to markabby, the way your first post is worded made me think you couldn't find where it's mounted too. I would imagine pretty much any auto parts store would have this part available. The trick will be finding one that will ship to the UK. You can probably find that on ebay as well, which might have sellers who might be more likely to ship to you.

I see the OEM part is pretty expensive..but Gates is a good aftermarket brand for a fraction of the cost i have no idea what parts stores you have in the UK..but i found an ebay uk listing with a Gates brand pulley

It may be possible to press the bearing out and replace the bearing also and you would get out even cheaper

Hi Thanks for the replies. I did find that gates idler after I had posted yesterday, and bought it. I thought it was pretty expensive since I had found similar pulleys in the states for less than 1/3rd of the price but they wouldnt post to UK, they didnt comply with European standards for some reason!! Dodge Rams are a pretty rare commodity over here and Uk motor factors do not cater for them especially the heavy duty which mine is. Once again thanks for everybodys comments much appreciated.
