that's why I went to dennis Dillon. about 38000 +TTL for a 2500 4x4 6.4 with 4.10 rear end SLT/big horn. around here (sacramento), a tradesman 4x4 with not much added to it ran 36000 -38000 +TTL. of course, you have to put a value on a day of driving, for me, in laws live down the street from Dillon so was not a wasted trip.

Have you ever seen an HD gasser cost 10k more than a same trim 1500 with hemi and 8 sp?

With gas at $2.00 , I am having a hard time seeing what the fuss about gas mileage is? If you do the math, it's really not worth a 1500 if you have any chance of needing the capabilities of the 2500.

For example, even if you drive 20,000 miles a year, and get 15MPG on the 2500, that's 1,333 gallons of fuel. @ $2.50 per gallon even, that's $3,333 of fuel a year.

The same 1500, getting you 20 MPG, would use 1000 gallons of fuel, equating out to $2,500 a year in fuel costs. While not nothing, it's $70 a month.

Right now, I'm getting gas at a straight 1.99.. At those numbers, it's $54 a month.

Remember, this is at 20,000 miles a year. If you're driving 10K, it's $27 a month.

Yes, I know it is money, and it is not nothing, but these are 30 - 60K Trucks. Get what you need.

For the poster who hated the gas mileage, and traded down, how did you do that if you had to pay sales tax on the 2nd truck and take the hit on trade-in? How long until you get that back?

Didn't really compare the two so I couldn't tell you what the local price difference would be between comparable 1500 vs 2500. I didn't make a choice between the two, I had a 1500 express 5.7 4x4. Farkles wise, that's all I needed in a truck. But for hauling needed a 2500 and preferred to go gas. So I just looked around here for a Ram 2500 tradesman. Dillon had a better truck with a 4.10 for basically the same price as locally.

I just bought a 2500 megacab with the 6.4 hemi. I could have gotten a 1500 crew cab and been just as happy but I like having the ability to plow and tow. Right now I don't really need it but the plans are to buy a plow for next winter and hopefully a boat in the future. I'd rather set myself up with a bigger truck now then having to buy a bigger truck down the road. This way my truck will be payed off in a couple of years then I can afford a bigger boat payment.
