I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500
5.2L 318 Magnum V8
Automatic 4x4
134k miles
Everything works. Perfect condition. Mine has the Camper Shell.20190716_104122.jpg Screenshot_20190717-111555_Messages.jpg

Someone offered to trade me:
1998 Dodge Ram 2500
5.9L Cummins Diesel
5-speed manual 2WD
400k miles
Looks just as nice. He claims everything works.

Is it worth the trade?

I really want a manual Cummins, but I don't know if it's worth it with miles like that.

What do you think?

If you do, get some cash on the deal as well.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you know of all your upcoming issues and are familiar with that rig. Another truck brings another set of unknown problems.

strong considerations for both pros and cons, check the blowby, if its excessive it could still go another 100k, try to start it cold, if it starts right up thats a good sign, if it takes a good 15 seconds thats not. check the oil and check for leaks, check the coolant and look for oddball wiring (on the road fixes usually). Check to make sure all the gears engage without any grinding. Ac heat etc.
