While under my truck the other day under the bed I noticed the frame had some slight rust. Would it be bad to take a drill with wire wheel to it and remove all rust and then paint it with POR-15 or something?

That would be an excellent idea overall.
However, Por15 needs rust to stick to, so be sure to follow the directions closely.

I'd recommend you wearing at a minimum a basic dust mask when wire brushing off all the loose crap.

You might consider pulling the bed entirely and making it a weekend project.
All depends on how 'in depth' you want to get.

Yea I will be wearing all kinds of face equipment while doing this project lol.

Hm if POR-15 needs rust on surface to stick to maybe I shouldn't use that? Wouldn't it be best to remove it all instead of leaving some for paint? What kind paint should I use then?

If you remove the rust completely you can use naval jelly or another commercially available rust barrier to coat the bare metal then paint it with a good primer. Then repaint it the correct color. Or after the removal the rust, use an etching primer (it physically bonds with the metal), then paint over it with a good paint. Rustoleum works well for this.

Por 15 is one of the best products for it, just saying to follow the directions.

If your cleaning the rust off just use black primer, and some gloss black krylon. I live on the beach, and drive on the beach, so I paint the hell out of the underside of the truck.. Less crap sticks on gloss I take my truck every now and then to the local do it yourself car wash and blast the underside off with hot wax.
