My 2011 Ram 1500 w/5.7L stalls when I roll up to a stop sign or light when the engine has not reached operating temp yet. Also, I get a little sudden drop in RPM's immediately after I stop when it is warm but then goes back to normal.
At first I thought it was the throttle position sensor so I replaced the throttle body and performed the relearn procedure. The issue persists. Then I thought it was an EGR valve issue but for the life of me I can't find the EGR valve or anything about where its located. No one sells the valve that I can find either. The only air lines I see are the brake booster line and one coming up from next to the engine oil spout.
Someone told me it might be the ECT sensor. My engine temps read fine and I am not getting any engine codes. So I am at a loss of what the issue could be.

I'm running out of ideas.

@huntergreen The battery is 2 years old and no idea about the plugs. I got the truck in 2016 and haven't changed them yet.

How many miles, you could be way over due for plugs. You have the 30k mile plugs, use only mopar nkg plugs. But I doubt spark is the issue. Could be vacuum, or could be not getting gas at that moment.

Throttle body probably needs to be cleaned also.

Until you get a high level scan tool on it and someone with troubleshooting skills, stabbing guesses are just going to cost you money in wasted parts until you find it.

I would go the cheap route and do a pour in complete fuel system cleaner and top off the tank with a great quality 93 octane gas. Drive normal for that tank and then only run a quality 89 octane fuel.

Option 2
pour some HEET water remover in and see if that helps.

Option 3
Spark plugs (16) E3 is my recommendation

@Burla Truck has 130k and I have considered the spark plugs... but I would think the engine idle would be erratic and rough. It only does this when the engine is warming up.

@crackerjack1957 Throttle body is brand new. Less than 2 weeks old. At first I thought it was the throttle position sensor so I just replaced the whole throttle body.

@Hootbro I agree I need a better scan tool than the one I have. Problem is I am not getting any error codes so it is making this way harder to figure out.

Oops, I missed the throttle body replacement.....good luck with troubleshooting.

Does anyone know if these 4th gen Ram 5.7 Hemi's have an EGR valve? If so... can anyone point it out because I can't find it!

Good to know that I'm not the only one having the exact same "cold engine stall" issues as KobaltTX. Mine is a 2013, w/ 5.7 gas hemi. I've changed Coolant Temp Sensor & intake air temp sensor, fuel additive, new airbox assy, and complete throttle body cleaning.
No codes! High priced scanner in repair shop found no faults. Thus....no solution. I don't want to be a "parts-changer" but unless there's any better ideas I might have to, starting with plugs/coils.

Shift to neutral when coming to a stop. Could be the torque converter also. Check the trans fluid. My 2005 2500 Hemi would stall coming to a stop and it was the torque converter.

Might not hurt to replace the MAP sensor. They're like $25 and can wear out like O2 sensors. We changed it on my fathers 2500 5.7 @105K and while he didn't notice it around town he noticed a difference next time he towed with it. If you have a scantool with their free obdwiz software you can do some basic data logging of some of the sensors and the fuel trims and such with a laptop.

even if it wont fix the issue, the plugs are WAY WAY WAY past due, spend the 1hr it takes to change them and replace em, and you might be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Clean/replace the PCV valve, and check the plugs

MAP sensor could be good part to switch out, but decided to get a Bluedrive Bluetooth scan tool, for a bit more trouble-shooting first. Very useful tool!
Found vacuum much higher than factory specs (43 hg) should be around 22. Now I'm suspecting a manifold vacuum leak. Doesn't quite explain why truck runs fine when warm, except for expansion of a gasket. (Throttle)??
Time for some smoke.
Thanks all.

Might not hurt to check for a bad PCV valve as mentioned. Also the map sensor is what should be providing the vacuum reading so it could be also be bad if you can't find a leak.

If there was a vacuum leak then vacuum would read low not high.
