Can someone can please answer this:

I have a 2018 Big Horn, non alpine, 8.4 screen.

I have 2 door speakers front and back, and three in the dash.

Yes, three. I have a center dash speaker.

I’ve been told I should not have this third speaker by a few people. Before I spend anymore fixing my setup can people confirm whether I should be targeting 2ohm or 4ohm speakers for the front.

Thanks.

If worse came to worst you could pull a speaker out and check the resistance with a volt meter...

a voltmeter will not measure resistance ( 2 , 4 or 8 ohms) accurately of a voice coil of wire in a speaker... the resistance in a speaker is really impedence measured in ohms... the resistance in a coil to an AC signal...

When I get home I’ll rip off the cover but when I had the amp installed the shop was confused because the wiring sheets said I shouldn’t have had one.

Ok, thankfully I don’t have some bastardized RAM that rolled off the assembly line with jacked up electronics. I guess installer assumed there was a speaker under the cover.

So,

With the 6 speaker setup: will this amp:

Work with the Infinity Reference 3.5’s as well as the Infinity Reference 2 way 6x9’s?

The oem dash speakers are 8 ohm.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas

It’s a 4 channel amp, how were you planning to wire the six speakers? Does that amp take high level inputs? If not, you’ll need a LOC at minimum.

What’s your final goal for the system?

I’m only looking to push the front 4 probably.

I’m going to pay a local shop for the install of amp and anything else it needs.

Final goal would be to sound better than if I paid for the alpine but not expecting to win any competitions.

Will you be adding a sub as well? If not now, then down the line at some point?

Yeah down the line I could see myself putting in rear door speakers being powered as well as an under seat sub.

Then your best bet is a six channel amp with some processing built-in. That way you can power the 4 doors and dash with a single amp. You’ll want the processing so that you can adjust the dash volume independently. If you don’t, the dash speakers will overpower the doors and you won’t get much midbass.

This amp looks pretty cool. You get 45w for the dash and rear doors plus 90w for the front doors.

What would you recommend for rear doors? Ideally I would like to stick with JBL/Infinity for the front but not sure if:

A. 45 will be able to power much
B. If I need anything fancy for rear doors

Where are people hiding these bigger amps anyway?

You can use the same 6x9s that you use in the front doors. Normally you don’t play the rears as loud as the fronts. There are much higher power six channels but you will pay a lot more for them.

For example: https://www.sonicelectronix.com/ite...html?refSrc=lc61200&nosto=productpage-nosto-1

That’s a great amp with a full featured DSP built in. The price reflects the quality though.

As for where to mount them, I like the back wall.

If you already know of a good shop, find out what brands they carry.

So, took a longer drive to a pretty well known place.

Rockford DSR1
KFC-XP6903C
KFC-X694
Sony XM-GS4

Full install, wiring, etc, etc

$1197.

Thoughts on their proposed setup? Price seems more than reasonable when I google all the items.
