Don't see it as real competition based on the limited amount that's been released. It's a 2 inch lift, 35x18 tires, a "crawl" feature and a 7.3L engine which is the only nice thing. They haven't released all feature, but doesn't sound all that competitive at the moment. Just gonna have to wait for more info I guess

Hmmm , initial reaction would be impressive but waiting for the numbers and price tag.
Maybe 2020 wagon will have an option for factory 35's.

The 7.3 gasser with a 10 speed gets me fired up a bit. A crawl ratio of 53 to 1 does as well. Although I dont want a diesel, its nice to see that they offer the option. Also nice that it has close to the same tow ratings as the regular super dutys, although that is where (meaning the suspension) the pw will outshine it I would imagine... its just not gonna have the articulation that the pw does.

Anyways its nice to see something pop up that will keep RAM on their toes!

In a true krawling situation the PW will leave it for dead. They kept knocking the PW for payload and towing, but that is the whole idea of the truck to have the super-flexy suspension. They'll sell a ton of them, but that's an apples and oranges comparison IMHO.

I wouldn't say apples to oranges comparison.... Both are heavy duty trucks geared for towing/hauling and play/off road. Ford just chose to swing more to the towing aspect, while RAM went more for the offroad aspect.

What I like with the pw is that simply adding airbags gave me the best of both worlds.

I agree that Ram needs to turn up the wick, power-wise. The 6.4 is the base engine now, and there needs to be a step above.

However, I don't think they should tamper with the PW formula. Rather, they should make a Rebel HD. Then they could play the same game and maintain payload and towing, even offer the Cummins.

True! LOL

As much as factory mounted 35’s would be nice on the pw, there is certainly nothing spectacular about it. I mean, super dutys have came with 35’s for a while now. So have raptors. Hell the factory 20’s on the 4th gen rams are 33’s, and the 3/4 ton rams have like 34’s.

If they want to make a point... 37’s and 5.13’s.

This wont compare to hard trails or more difficult however the fact it comes with a diesel and can tow 20k plus lbs, and have an off road flavor is interesting. Not a ford fan but what they are doing is interesting....a 10 speed
....sounds like ram needs to design and step up. I avg 11.5 mpg empty with 35s.....a 10 speed would give me 15ish which would be great....but it's a Ford

A diesel would only be good off road if it came with the DPF and EGR deleted from the start. Considering the amount of problems modern diesels have as result of problems caused by these two especially when you get up around 100K miles. Gas may not make as much power but probably would be more reliable over time.

Lots of benefits with a diesel, more hp, torque, usually better mpg, better crawl ratio, less skinny pedal to go over or up obstacles, better towing....and the 100k mark, well not sure I believe that. Wife has a porsche cayenne diesel and it's got 80k on it and runs like brand new....just saying it's not all negative....filling up DEF sucks but oh well

The gasser has 53:1 crawl ratio, while the oil burner is 44:1. Due to the final drive ratio in the axles.

From the 7.3 gasser it is....what about all the other benefits. That low end torque will be awesome especially if it gets close to the 1k mark

I don’t think that tremor is comparable to the power wagon. I think its more comparable to the ram hds with the off-road package. Those come in 6.4 and 6.7 with the higher tow/payload capacity than the power wagon.

The 7.3, 10speed, 35’s does sound bad ass but wouldn’t it take over a power wagon.
