Tailgate Light Strip Question

I am wanting to put the tailgate light strip on my truck. I have been doing some research and while it is a very simple install I have seen some comments on it putting up error codes like the break lights are out and what not. Was wondering if anyone who has installed them, did you have problems after installing them and did you have any problems while installing them? Also what brands did you guys go with?

I had an opt7 60" strip fitted 12 months ago. Not a single problem with it.
I had it fitted professionally......
They hard wired it to one of the connector plugs as adaptors aren't available here and had to tap into another loom for reverse.

I have the OPT7 Triple led light bar installed. I installed it 2 mos ago with no error codes whatsoever. I used the curt adaptor so as not to cut/splice into factory wiring behind the tail light. I also used ceramic magnets to affix the bar to the truck. Didn’t wanna rely on the double stick tape or screw into the body. Plus the magnets allow you to remove and still access the spare tire release (not that I have a spare).

Ok thanks for the info guys. Which curt adapter did you guys use. There are two different part numbers and I’m not sure which one in use. First one is 56584 and the second is 55385. Price difference is only about $8 so it doesn’t matter which one but I want to make sure to get the correct one.

It gives the five way version that allows you to use a tailgate bar with reverse lights.

Opt-7 triple on mine with that curt adapter. Been on for a year with abosolutely NO issues. Nice n bright... reverse...

Nope, reverse is one of the five wires.
You could buy a five flat trailer plug and use that to wire the tailgate LED
Just an FYI the four and five flat trailer connection are interchangeable.

Curt is using BLUE for the reverse lights??? I gotta call foul ball on that... Color codes are there for a reason... Blue should not be used for anything but trailer brakes...

I am buying the Curt adapter so I can power extra reverse lights but am really surprised at the lack of color code protocol...

Jay these are the same magnets that are in the magnetic bars that you can get for free from the place where my wife works. You’d just have to pry them off of the steel bar.
