i have a set of quad headlights laying around that i was thinking about experimenting on taking them apart. the question i have is: what is the best method of taking the headlights apart? I've seen people using a heat gun and the bake apart method. any recommendations so that i don't destroy these lights?

Put them in the oven and use a low temp. Check them often. You may have to put them in and separate a little bit then put them back in and repeat.

My biggest mistake when I did it was too little time/too low heat for fear of ruining my lights. I ended up using too much force around the lip and almost ruined the housing on the first one. Heat gun is much easier and controllable.

250 degrees for about 12-15mins. Separate Then put them back in for 5-10 mins at a time if they don't come apart the first time

Same DIY I used when I baked mine to get the guts hydrodipped.

You don't have to get them apart in one try, if you have to put them back in multiple times do it. I did quite a few times on each light, when they cool they're less playful then you might break something if you force it too much haha.

I agree...15 minutes at 250. Work at them for a few minutes and then back in for 5...back out and work on them for 5...then back in for 5. Keep at it. It may take a few times, but they will come apart and the look is well worth the time IMO!

Once they've been out of the over for 5-6 minutes, they've cooled off.
Slap em back in the oven.

Put then on a cookie sheet with a silicon mat, and just in-case, don't have the lense (or other visible) area touching oven metal.
