I've got a 2014 Laramie Limited that I'm thinking about toning down the chrome on. I'd like to replace the front grill surround with a black body colored matched one like the Sports have. I want to keep the current chrome inserts in the grill. The other change I'm thinking about is changing the chrome on the mirrors to black as well. I have the regular power folding mirrors-not the tow mirrors. Can I order the grill painted through Mopar parts or do you buy the grill and have it painted? Anyone have an idea how difficult or easy the swap on the mirrors would be? Can you order just the cap piece in black or do you have to order the whole mirror?

My chrome mirrors on my 2012 was just a chrome overlay thing. It was secured from the factory with 3m foam tape. I just pulled them off. Maybe yours are the same?

When I was doing some searches it looked like there is a Putco chrome cover that pops up on the Mopar parts sites. Thanks, I'll do a little investigating.

Well... I may have lied. Got my truck used and previous owner may have put them on but they had mopar symbols on the inside so assumed they put them on

I found a couple of threads that talk about taking apart the Sport mirrors. My guess is that the chrome on mine is not a stick on cap, but its part of the mirror. This piece gets painted on the Sports and chromed elsewhere. Looks like it only comes with the entire $700 mirror assembly and is not available separately.

tape it off, sand it and paint. Alot cheaper then buying a whole new mirror. They sell perfect match cans at parts stores or go to a local paint shop and have them mix to your paint code in aerosol cans.

I'm going to get a quote from the body shop that did the work on my last truck on painting the grill & mirrors. See what they come back with. No a big fan of painting over the chrome. I did it on my Sierra Denali grill and it held up ok, but it was starting to show towards the end.
