I am starting to think about trading the Ram Hemi rcsb 4x4 in on a Hemi R/T as I used 4x4 5-6 times a year tops and I need to look for snow (ie out of the way snow). My current truck sees 12-15 miles per week, a little more in the summer hitting all the car shows. I have put 3 k on the odo since new in july so I am betting I could trade straight across for an R/T, will keep you up to date:favorites13:

Nice! Try and find a 13 with low low miles so you can get the 4.10 rear end..if you care about that lol

What's the benefit of the trade? Just wanting to shed the weight of the 4x4 system?

That's what I'm wondering.... If he ready has 3.92's the only thing he'd gain is 22" wheels, grill and stiffer rear springs and some weight loss. This pretty much the sole reason I got a reg cab sport 4x4, nearly an RT but the use of 4wd.

When the truck only weighs like 5000lbs losing 400-600lbs for front axle components and t-case..plus the lower gearing, however slight, will make a big difference in his off the line speed. Top end might not be much different but off the line will be noticeable..

My dads durango limited with non mds hemi and 4.10s has beaten many sports cars and "muscle cars" in an 1/8th mile drag. That thing weighs around what the rcsb does due to the 1/4 ton frame. Let me tell you that truck will light up all 4 tires in awd from a dead stop or going 55 down the highway.

They will have the same gearing if he currently has 3.92's though.

I say go for it..but given your recent history with a 4x4, I can't wait for the RWD truck shenanigans :roflsquared:

Unless he goes 13 or older and picks one up with the 4.10.
This is what i was thinking..it would be much cheaper and because of what it is, im sure you'll find a few with only a couple thousand miles. Unless he wants to buy brand new he might as well get a 13 if possible. Plus the idea of having the slightly lower gear tickles me :roflsquared:

Not nearly as much as from a dead stop but just enough to let you know it happened lol..my dad also has smaller tires than stock which helps. Its significantly faster than my truck off the line unless you just floor it because you wont get traction then. No one believes it till theyre lookin at tail lights haha.

With the times the r/t's are getting in the quarter id say tank should be able to do the same..

I would just get a leather kit, some aftermarket RT wheels and have the mirrors and gables painted. Would be cheap enough and you could keep the 4wd for the snow.

Took the truck to my brother in laws feed lot 2 weeks ago (when I got stuck that weekend lol) were they have to have a very accurate scale as his beef ends up in Pasco Wash, well anyway with a full tank and nothing in the truck it weighed in at 5240lbs. Seems kinda heavy for a rcsb 4x4 or am I way off. I am getting to old to be playing in the muck and snow, if I were to keep the truck at home on our out of town visits it would amass 3000-5000 miles a year and that would probably be a tad high.

I guess I am looking for the lightest Hemi truck on the market and the R/T has to be it:favorites13:

********. Light them up at 55..... lighting up a joint maybe.

It might hold of some "muscle" cars til the 1/8th if the other guy cant drive worth a ****, but then its long gone car in short order for the durango.

Wow didnt you learn not to judge a book by its cover? What would i gain from lying? Its not even my truck, he wont even let me drive it anymore because i used to street race it so much lol. This is what i mean..you dont know what youre talking about..i learned to drive in the damn thing. Obviously you didnt read past that post. This isnt even what this thread is about. Maybe you should start your own thread about how a vehicle cant be fast if you dont think it can.

Its not a stock vehicle. **** the thing revs to 6400 rpm. Does YOUR 5.7 hemi do that? No. Idk exactly what the original owner did to it but he apparently was a chrysler engineer. I could be wrong but it sounds cammed to me. My dad wont fork out the money to dyno it unfortunately but its gotta be past 400hp at the crank. I put muscle in quotations because i was talking about the modern ones that dont really have muscle. That includes little coupes with 6cyls. It would blow the doors off of all of our trucks (well, stock ones anyway) no doubt. Plus apparently the durango weighs less than a rcsb 4x4 according to Tanks weigh in. Hmm less weight with more power? No thats not how speed works at all hahaha.
