Did you disable the auto headlights and turn them on manually when needed or leave the auto on? I've always been told turning HID's on and off quickly reduces their life expectancy but not sure on newer systems.

I put my hat over the sensor as I prefer headlights on always anyway.

Keeping them on helps me not forget it is the law in most places to turn on in rain, low visibility (like shaded road), and 30 minutes before sunset.

Do you have the projectors? If so, it doesn’t really matter, since the low beams stay on when the highs come on anyway. All that happens is the projector baffle drops to allow a full beam pattern, and the additional high beam lamp illuminates as well. The low beam isn’t turning on and off.

The short version is no, I did not turn my auto high beam function off. I let it do it’s job. Although with my 55W HIDs, the auto high beams sometimes have a hard time staying on since they’re so bright.

Auto yiu referring to auto high beams? Or auto on/off via the daylight sensor?

I don’t put my switch to Auto and my lights are set to not automatically come on with the wipers. Might be more convenient with the opposite settings but it’s just my preference to control those independently.

Auto low beams on/off , I've always known the quick on and off action to hurt HID ballasts so I was wondering what everyone was doing.

Automatic feature on and in 3 years of using aftermarket HIDs I’ve haven’t had any problems at all. They come with a warranty from the manufacturer anyway so I never gave it any thought.

Same here (because Oregon, not WA.) I figure a new set of bulbs are cheaper than a ticket any day of the week, so I keep mine on "Auto."

I don't keep mine in auto, but they do come on when I remote start until I get in and push the start button, wish just the parking lights came on during the remote start

My truck is set to auto mode and no issues after nearly 2 years with Morrimoto HIDs.
