I’m trying to decide if I go and buy a set of fog light housings that have a smoke on the lense. Curious if anyone else has these as I will be running some farhens in them or am I better off just using the OE style housings? Trying to guage how much light will be lost with the little bit of smoke to the lenses?

Depending on how tinted the lenses are there will be diminished light output. That's exactly why I decided to go with a black housing on the inside of my headlamps and fog lamps instead of smoked or tinted lenses. When I bought the truck that I am driving now a few months ago it had tinted headlamps and fog lamps and the headlamps were useless until it was dark dark and the fog lamps had to be on at all times to be able to see.

The light output is degraded but it all depends on the tint.

Can I ask what fog light assembly you are talking about that is blacked out?

Was going to try these

I have some fog lamps like these below on my 2006 Ram 1500 that is my daily driver and they are phenomenal.

Just like these, mine have a clear lense but instead of chrome inside the housing mine are black as well as my headlamps.

I took my factory fog lights, baked them in the oven and opened them up to paint them black on the inside. Made the front end look good, but the fog lights became ineffective as there was no reflecting happening inside the housing. Maybe different bulbs would fix that, but I never tried.
