I have had the 55w morimoto kit for years (basically since the truck was new on the relay harness) and I have had issues with (1) of the relays when it got cold out (common issue from what I read).

While I tried the replacement set once and again had issues once it got cold after a year or 2, I refused to buy more from them.

Instead I bought (2) of these - https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Automotive-0332019157-Normal-Relays/dp/B00BJLIB9G/ref=sr_1_1?crid=6H0DHBKMXELJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.kYxgHM34PACRnkm7Sac-WwfHPBzkEYnpjbwSNCRUN6RZPfs_fsOeULLypYw-nW74bUIFlJuUF9oCkdrhLhj0bZC4bFsFD3TRkc0azQ3tgVE.AJ9OJ1GB8-Xmz-nu9Ge4kB1lumspuCTdSmbNlgc7Wvo&dib_tag=se&keywords=bosch+0332019157&qid=1736517180&sprefix=bosch+0332019157,aps,70&sr=8-1

I trimmed the tab off with a utility knife, pulled out the ****** mornimoto relays from the weather pack and installed the Bosch in their place - Problem solved!

So for anyone having issues with the morimoto HID kit (with relay harness) check your relays FIRST (swap from side to side and see if issue follows) and then replace the relays with higher quality ones!

I got rid of my morimoto ballast and am using ballasts from BPS lighting. You don't even need to use the the big resistors either.

I have never had an issue with the Morimoto ballasts, running them for years.

I have only had issues with the relay's which is why I made this post, to help anyone else with this kit.

Glad you are happy running a completely different set up, P.S. you don't need the resistor is you change the code for the headlights with Alpha OBD either.

Makes me happy I have OEM LED's, which RAM stopped putting in the low end trimmed Bighorns halfway into production year. My son leased the same year truck I had, but a near end of year production, same trim, and RAM had gone to quad lighting and deleted the LED setups. How I know. But I tell U, my R/R tail lens was cracked and replaced under warranty, that sucker was $568.00 since a sealed unit.

I don't run any relays or extra wiring harness with the bps ballast. It plugs directly into your factory harness. I had a lot of issues with my morimoto harness, relay, ballast in the past.

I believe last I checked Morimoto ballast were all updated to "soft start" a few years back.

So technically, I don't need to run the harness either.. BUT...I'm running the 55w kit so I wanted to separate the HID setup from the truck system with higher rated wire.

None of this however is relevant to the actual thread....
