I just received my 2 flowmaster supper 44 mufflers and an h-pipe( i don't like the sound of the x on v8's) and i am going to run 2.5" pipe all the way from the front to the back. I'm debating cutting the catalytic converters off. I don't have any emissions tests or inspections, and I plan on running LT's in the near future. So, should I keep them or cut them out? Yes, my tune has the o2 sensors turned off already. thanks:favorites13:

I'sd say if your not inspected, and or tested get rid of the restriction since the sensor is not reporting to the ecm anyway. keep them though for future re-install though.

Do you have an Xpipe on it now? I'm curious on how it sounds.

no, since i don't like the x, i am installing the h. a buddy has a set-up similar to mine as i described, but with that(x) darn "foreign" car sound. i'm willing to give up 1 hp to not here an x on anything, IMO. i've had them on mustangs and a camaro.

I have an X on my 440. It does have a European tone to it, and I love it. No cackle. No pop. No brrrap.

In no any case I recommend to cut the cats out, espescially if you are planning to go with LT's.
I've gone through the long way of choosing and installing of different mufflers, trying to make LT's + sport cats + 3" true dual pipes quieter.
Here is my vid, LTs+ sport cats + mufflers delete + 3 dual pipes - I couldn't even park near the house, as I was anxious that someday somebody from my neighbours will broke my windows. I used some resin boots at starting and then switched right after start to any of P or D position to make the revs go down:

That was as loud as helicopter starting off at full throttle.
2 of your 44 flowmasters won't compensate any sound with LTs. Just believe me. I've been using 2 Maggies, which were 18" long (44 flow are more smaller) - and it was terrible too. THat's why I cutted them out just to try and to find new mufflers.
Now I'm running GIBSON 3" dual in / 3 dual out with X inside - it's quieter, quite comfortable in the city, but is still too noisy on the highway.
Your 2.5" instead of mine 3" would make a difference, but I doubt it would be noticeable.

you have to know how to plan exhaust...I've changed mine several times because they were too loud for my liking incab. With a 5 x 11 x 22" magnaflow, no cats and LT's with piped dumped after axle..my truck is waaaayyyy quieter then every aftermarket exhaust equipped ram I've been around. The key to the exhaust I've been running the last 7 years is that is has to be quiet incab because i constantly have family or other people riding with me and I was tire of having to raise my voice when I ran flows. I know I'm quieter because whenever I come to a light, I always hear everyone else's truck instead of mine...If I want loud I flip open the cutouts and it sounds like nascar. I love having options. My neighbors beg me to open them so they can hear them...but when closed, my truck is barely louder than stock..just with a lope :)

I love it when people intown equate loudness with fast and power... when they pull up next to me they think im stock cuz they're louder...and they lose every single time....the more I think about it, I can't ever remember a street race I've ever lost when challenged by a louder truck :)
