finally got the truck out to the track last night, made my first run with the tuner still in economy mode, no burn out, launched in 2wd, no spin ran a 17.01, next two runs still in economy were 17.1, then tried a burn out, tires were still wet and spun, ran in the 18s.

as the sun went down and it got cooler i gave in to temptation and i put the tuner to the 87 tune for the extra 8hp that diablo says i get (lol) and ran a 16.8, then last run of the night ran a 16.6 at 85mph.

truck weight around 7260 with me in it, i have a diablo trinity, a magnaflow muffler that is flow through, a afe drop in filter and the truck has 4.10 gears

to be honest i was kinda disappointed with my times, my truck felt faster than a 17s truck, i thought in the heat of the day i shoulda been under 16.5 and at night close to 16.2ish, but guess i over estimated haha

according to my hp calculator based on et(16.6) and weight(7260) my rwhp is 313, which is quite low in my mind, but based on mph(85) and weight(7260) my rwhp is 348 which seems more like it, which is about a 20% drivetrain loss, but based on that hp and weight i should be running low 16s, so im gonna chalk up my slower than expected time to the fact that the truck weighs alot, and the truck is having a hard time grunting itself off the line, which i must say it isnt very snappy off the line but pulls pretty good at just before 1/8th mile

sorry for the novel just wanted to report my findings haha

next upgrade will be a 87mm thottle body, then an intake if anyone ever comes out with one(come on s&b)

Not TOO bad for a bigger truck, one made to pull anyway. I'm curious when the true potential of this truck is unlocked. I'll be waiting. Good luck on your mods.

Sounds pretty good to me for a 7,000lb truck.

What kind of difference have you noticed during normal driving on the street since you have installed the tuner? Does the economy tune have any noticeable loss of power or other driveability issues? Any noticeable improvements in fuel mileage?

Driveability wise not any significant loss, same with power my fastest pass before the sun went down was in economy, as for fuel economy gains, on the evic I've seen the mileage go from 17-18l/100km to 15-16l/100km with a mix of highway mostly and some city, hand calculated mileage to come later today

I have the diablo sport hemi fever tuning now drive ability is increased 1000 percent the full custom tune ended up putting down 388 rwhp/419 rwtq sae only other mod is magnaflow exhaust. DA was 900 ft temp was 91 degrees octane was 93 from stripes.

the 6.4 is rated at 410hp/429tq.

Thus far we've been seeing 15-20% losses through the drivetrain.

15% would put you at ~349hp and 365tq

20% would put you at ~328hp and 344tq

Given that I'd say split it right down the middle, you're probably seeing about 335hp and 355tq.

To get a 3 and a half ton truck to do the quarter in 16 on an 87 tune with no real go-fast mods is pretty damn good.

I bet with the TB, a HemiFever tune and 93 octane you can easily be in the low 16s.

hell if he got a half second going from econ to 87, a TB and 93 tune and I would also recommend an intake, he'd easily crack high 15's I think.

I agree, he would probably crack 15s, I was just being conservative.

I enjoyed the novel! Could wind resistance have a big effect?

yes!! wind resistance in this thing is a huge drawback, any headwind and the mileage plumits, so going down the track at 80mph probably benefit from some aero dynamics haha

I'm not a racing expert, but all of the diesel truck 1/4 racers use 4x4 all the way. Check into it, you might drop half a second.
