Trailer brake programming

So I put a factory trailer brake in my 2017 ram. So I use alpha to program it. But now when I push the brakes with no trailer on my dash the trailer brake shows it being used but says no trailer connected. Also when a trailer is hooked up the brakes work but says no trailer connected. And last on the radio if I change any of the settings for the trailer brake it just goes back to where it was. I’m totally lost I’ve read so many posts and can’t figure it out any help would be great

Are you sure you used the right module? There are a bunch for different years. Post up the part number of what you added.

This is what you should have configured:
1. CBC Features:Trailer Tow Present
2. Cust.set.menu2: Trailer Selected CSM Present
3. Cust.set.menu2: Trailer Name CSM Present
4. Cust.set.menu2: Trailer Type CSM Present
5. P/T Chassis Net: ITBM/HWM Integrated Trailer Brake Module

It’s was part number 82215040B and I’ve checked many times to make sure everything was turned on in alpha. I even turned everything off and did it over but it came out the same.

That's the right part number for your '17. Is it real, or a compatible? Where did you buy it, ie not Amazon/eBay, etc. They are well known for selling generic counterfeit ones.

It was eBay it said Mopar but there’s no part number on it. Probably should have gone to the dealership. Just really pricey in Canada

Should have check before I bought it. I’ll have to find one that ships to Canada.
