Anyone have the trailer not connected error while driving? Was driving to Florida from Iowa and error message came on. Now sometimes I can drive 2 hours before it comes on. It comes and goes. I have unplugged the connection and plugged back in. Thanks

My guess is a loose connection !, When you get a chance make sure the coupling under the truck is tight ! Also I would grab a small tube of dielectric grease and put a tiny bit in each socket on the plug in ! Hope someone with better info pops in, Please Update what you find... Thanks

Definitely sounds like a loose connection, though it could also be bad grounding through the hitch itself.

Usually I put one of those short ball-on-a-loop bungies around my 7-pin round connector after I've made sure all the lights are working - I've never had an issue with any other style but I don't use them often. This keeps the connection tight. We have a trailer at work that gives everyone else problems, but because of this trick I never have an issue.

It may also be a good idea to clean your hitch ball and coupler. Most trailers use this as a 'backup ground' so to speak, and some it is the primary ground. If you have a lot of build-up inside the coupler this ground won't be made and it could cause this issue.

Thanks I will try that. Although I didn't see the camper lights blink.

On my 2015 the coupling is on the drivers side near the rear bumper. When I added a Curtis 5 prong splice kit to my truck when I seperated the coupling a buch of fine powder type sand/dirt fell out :O Added Dieletric there as well ! And as mention possible bad ground !

Mine has came on a couple of times. Every time it was something in the bed of my truck shifted against the plug. It only has to loose connection for a spilt second for it to report to the truck there is a problem.

Maybe the connection at the controller or under the dash if it's an add-on controller. I have had that issue there. Dielectric grease is good throughout, especially if you're in a wet area. Ever tow a boat and back into salt water to launch?

It's not a add-on but will try dielectric grease

Also make sure the connectors are not corroded if you have not done that yet !!
