Well I got a set of train horns and onboard air system. Since I hope the thread can be informative for others, I'll give as much info as possible:

Onboard air system: VIAIR - Medium-Duty Onboard Air System | 4WheelParts.com

Train Horn: Kleinn Train Horns - Train Horn | 4WheelParts.com

I was getting everything installed on the workbench to test everything and it all works great, sounds great, so far happy with the products. The onboard air system comes with a compressor and air tank separately. However, my current dilemma is that I planned on mounting it all to the frame on the passenger side. However, it's REALLY tight under there and I have to drill through the frame on both sides... it's just a pain in the ass so far.

SO THE POINT of this thread is to ask where people suggest or have personal experience in mounting their air tanks. I have read under the front bumper, seen in the bed on the wheel well(leaning towards this for simplicity), and even considering taking out the spare and putting it all there. Also, where do the horns get mounted to? Since I have the Ecodiesel and the active grill shutters, I can't mount anything directly behind the grill... so looking for input and advice on mounting these items. I'd love to answer any other questions along the way about my experience, but hoping someone can help me with the placement issue..... thanks!

you can make some brakets with simple homedepot supplies to mount it to the frame. But i just used very large hose clamps around both feet of the tank in an x shape. For the compressor i mounted it up front on a crossbar to keep it out of mud and upright.

I got some brackets from Home Depot and metal strapping... problem now is finding somewhere to mount it. I removed the spare tire and mount and still can't find a long enough space to mount the 2.5gal tank...

I mounted mine to some plywood and bolted it onto the cab side wall in the bed. Worked well and never got in my way. Plus the tonneau cover kept it out of the rain.

So far I've gotten this far with some heavy duty brackets and self tapping screws

Clever compressor placement... removed the innermost lining so it will still be a whole compartment if I need later down the line.

Very clean, but, will the compressor get enough air being there?

Any chances of overheating the compressor due to it being enclosed?

Having said that, I don't believe that I will need to get it much air since I don't plan on going around town honking like those YouTube morons. However in the event that I need to inflate a tire or it needs to run for longer... I can just open the floor door inside the cabin... right?

How loud will the compressor be inside the cab?

I ran it all on the workbench before I installed it and it was surprisingly quiet. Also it'll be closed up in that compartment. I assume if it's running from a honk then it won't be for long and if it's running because I'm actually USING it, then I won't be in the cab anyway.

I just had a hell of a difficult time screwing it to the frame with self tapping screws so this was my Plan B.
