Had my tranny pan seal replaced and other misc tranny stuff serviced at the same time. Couple weeks ago now. Crawling under it today I see a ZIP TIE hanging from the shifter cable. The little metal nipple on the shift arm (whatever its called) coming out of the transmission..... The cable is just hanging on by gravity and whatever pressure the cable is creating.

The bushing that should be in the center of the black plastic loop at the end of the cable.... Gone. I positioned the zip tie around the whole assembly -- yep, that's how the shop attached it. And didn't tighten it down.

So I tightened it down so I can drive to the shop Monday and demand they fix it properly.

There's an auto parts store in the same parking lot as the shop.

I this something I can do myself? Get a replacement bushing and pop it in? It seems like a.... weak design. But the truck has 222k and I've never had an issue. Any way to make the assembly more robust?

Thanks.
