Transfer Case Help!

Hey guys,

I recently came into possession of a 2001 Ram 1500 4x4. When I got it the transfer case and the transmission was taken out at the auction. I was wondering what I need for a transfer case. There was a broken t-case in the bed that was labeled as a 231 D at a 272 ratio, and I was wondering if this was the stock model t-case. If it is, is there a comparable vehicle (durango or dakota) that might have the same t-case?

if im not mistaken the durangos and kotas were electric shift so different than what you have.. the 231 is pretty standard and some have a 241 there were 5 tcases from 94-01 for these according to Wikipedia.. should be able to pick one up used from a wrecking yard.

It had the NP231DlD xcase. Stay with a 98+ xcase it can be a NP231D or the NP241D. Do not use a NP242.
