I am in need of some help. My truck is an 09 5.7 2wd. I swapped a 5.7 and trans from a 2013 with required part changes. I also swapped a mild 2600-2800 converter. It was running great but stuck in 4th because the solenoid pack is not compatible.
The issue, after the shop swapped the correct 04+ "remanufactured solenoid and valve body" that I supplied, they described the truck shifting too quickly. I was told that now the truck is stuck in second gear no matter where the selector is and won't let the truck start. There are supposedly no codes. Did battery disconnect in case WCM lockup was preventing start. Did I get a bad solenoid or valve body? Something else to check?

Did anyone check the cable going to the transmission? Make sure its landing at park properly or if its even connected at the transmission?

Thanks for fastfresponses. ast is stock untuned as I wanted it running first before tuning for headers/exhaust. The 13 PCM and harness isn't compatible.

It was my understanding that PCM only needed to be optimized for mild converter not required to run or operate at least in limp mode.

Cable appears to be attached correctly. It did shift for a brief while all be it abnormally (I didn't get to experience myself). I read erratic shifting could be valve body or Solenoid. Both were replaced with supposed remanufactured parts from ebay but with a "lifetime warranty."

Crazy but what about small amount of moisture in the fluid? It did have a drain and fill of entire system after pressure washing so hard to imagine. Seems extremely unlikely. Trying to order a replacement solenoid if the symptoms are pointing there.

Isn't there a solinoid pack connected to the valleys that could be the issue ?

Not sure. Maybe someone else will comment. com no expert but these trannies have all the solenoids, range sensor and neutral safety switch built into the same module. Thinking of trying a new aftermarket. Just bought a pan with drain plug for easier maintenance but was hoping for a better idea...

Wife's 04 grand cherokee, same trans, needed to have the valley and sensor back replaced at 180000 miles. Had rough erratic shifting in 2nd and 3rd gear. Sent stuck in gear though. You might want to consider an OEM parts instead of aftermarket.

I'm guessing bad solenoid but I also see some sellers saying the valve body is the same in 04+ and others saying 09+ I different. I'm mostly concerned with compatible but maybe there is an issue here? Any trans experts out there

Just wanted to let folks know that it was simply a faulty aftermarket pressure sensor. 15.00 later we were up and running. Thanks all for the advice!
