recently installed a set of long tube headers that goes back to a mufflex 14" magnaflow and my truck does not sound good when above 3000 rpm. Sound changes to a almost a v6 sound. exhaust is fully welded in and has no leaks. Idk if anyone has had the same issue or is this just what they sound like? I have recently changed the spark plugs and wondering if I could of possibly damaged a coil pack in the process and it's not working at higher rims but it's not throwing any codes. Any suggest would be appreciated. Thanks

What size headers and what size exhaust? Is it y piped or or true duals?

MDS... are you running a tuner? If you are you can shut it down completely. When it kicks in makes the truck sound like ****. I hate it...

Catless... you're going to need some kind of resonator on there to get the raspiness under control.

Catless y pipes have a nasty sound to me. the higher up the RPM band you go, the worse a catless exhaust system seems to sound

Thanks for the feedback. I do have a custom tune with diablo i3 but made the same sound with it loaded and without. When I was Installing the headers i did notice that the mufflex was in pretty rough shape and probably due for a new muffler here soon maybe I will try adding in the resonators see if that helps.

A few gearhead friends of mine have said that cheap cherrybomb glass packs make for good resonators.

Glasspacks make amazing resonators, they are cheap and readily available and will eliminate that horrible sound. Throw in a set and I promise you will like the outcome.

Go with a carven muffler, straight thru, no baffels. Pretty much a glorified glass pack.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I would add the carven progressive of competitor.

The resonators aren’t going to change the sound much if any at all. He has the exact same setup on exhaust that I do. And I ditched my factory resonators. Because they gave my exhaust a pinging sound.

If it was me, I'd either put the cats back in, or I'd do Borlas; or both.

I have cats + Borlas on my V6 Mustang, and and everyone says it sounds great.

There is an art to getting a vehicle to sound good. The 5.7 Hemi seems to be more forgiving than most.

V6s are a little tougher to get to sound good, and you may have to pay bit more. But anyone who says a V6 can't,or don't sound good, simply have not heard a well set up V six. My six sounds better than most v eights.

I had a '05 six cylinder 'stang with the tried and true 4.0L SOHC as a daily driver for a few years. I wanted better sound on a budget, had a bad cat that needed replacing and didn't want to cut the bumper for duals so I ended up going with Magnaflow high-flow cats and a single stock muffler from an '05 GT that I picked up off craigslist for a bargain. The combination was exceptional, many people heard the car and swore it was a V8. Definitely one of the best sounding sixes I've heard.

Catless with a magnaflow tends to get raspy in higher rpms.
