Uconnect Differences

I asked if a Uconnect 5(new gen) could be swapped out for previous versions...it was said probably not..today I took center stack off and looked at back of my 22 classic 8.4 U5..it has different harnesses than that of 8.4 4C...made by Mitsubishi Corp..older versions where Harmon...guess us U5 Guinea Pigs have to suffer the Software woes...

I think there are a few threads of guys who have gotten 5th gen Uconnects to work in 4th gen Rams. Not sure the inverse has been done, but, maybe those guys (@Mpgrimm2) might have some insight?
And you must not be aware, but the '18's got a (seemingly) one off Panasuckit unit. Got us Android Auto/CarPlay, but crap audio, and I think the "melting screen", but as I type that, I can't remember if it was just the Panasuckit units that melted, or just a bunch of 4th gens now.

I offered my truck to my local dealership as a experiment...if old radios can be put in place of the crap uconnect 5`s...wiring and harnesses look different..so...just have too wait and see when a fix comes in...

My stealership told me it couldn't be done but they have told me so many untruths that I have lost count. One of which was there weren't any older model radios available, yet I have found many when my 2018 U4 got demon possessed. Good luck. Neither my U5 or U4 work properly but I am replacing the U4 in my 2018. It'll cost me $1200 but the stealership wants $200 for each system software upgrade it is behind and they say it requires 3. UConnect and Stellantis sure know how to screw over their customers. Only way I will ever have another Stellantis product is if they replace the UConnect system with an aftermarket radio that works. Stellantis won't even cover the radio under warranty; never had a working radio in our new truck.
