So I got a call from my guy at the dealership and he told me they were having a big sale and he could get me out of my 2014 express and into a 2015 Sport for 20 bucks more a month... They only have 2 of them to chose from.. a Granite Crystal (same color as my express) or white. I like the Granite Crystal but it even though its a sport, it does not have the sport hood.. the white has the sport hood, but has an 8.4A instead of the 8.4AN

Here are the options for both.. im trying to decide on one.. what would you buy?

Granite Crystal:
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Sport Package 26L
Convenience Group $ 495
Automatic High Beam Headlamp Control
Keyless Enter 'n Go(TM)
Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers
Remote Start and Security Group $ 350
Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle $ 325
Uconnect® 8.4AN AM/FM/SXM/HD/BT/NAV $500
GPS Navigation
SiriusXM Traffic(TM) / 5-Year Traffic Service
SiriusXM Travel Link(TM) / 5-Year Subscription
ParkSense® Front / Rear Park Assist System $395

uc

White:
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Sport Package 26L
Remote Start and Security Group $ 350
Sport Premium Group $ 300
9 Amplified Speakers with Subwoofer
Sport Performance Hood $ 775

The 20 bucks a month doesn't seem right. There has to be moor to that. One or 2 more years on the loan. I don't the express v6 getting top dollar as a trade in. If it is and no extra years I would jump on it. Rule of thumb trade in a year old truck and bend over.

I would get the Granite. All the added options will be nicer than the hood. Plus you can replace the hood easily as opposed to trying to add any of the other things to the white one.

IMHO if neither one had a 3.92 rear with limited slip I wouldn't buy either one. 3.92 is a deal breaker for me every time.

Of the two, go for the granite. ParkSense alone is worth the price of admission and the LS rear is a bonus. Get some actual numbers-don't fall for the $20/mo trick. Good luck!

its 20 bucks more than I'm paying now and my loan starts over with a new 72 month loan. I'm currently 9 months into my loan on the 2014... so not too horrible. My express has a bunch of extra's... I did the OEM navigation mod, have the Hemi dual exhaust, projector headlights etc..

They both have the 3.21 rear.

I did get the actual numbers and yeah.. it really was 20 bucks for the granite and a little less than that for the white. I did look and my insurance will go up another 12 bucks a month.. so there is that too..

Granite looks nicer to me. If you don't need the 3.92 that seems reasonable to me. <35 bucks for a sport? Sounds like a deal to me unless you're already pushing your finances.

what was the sticker on the express and whats the sticker on the sport?

$20 a month is the equivelant of a $1000 price difference on a loan.

I'm going to tell you right now, your not getting a brand new sport ( unless its completely stripped down ) for $20 a month more than the express......and if you are, the length of the loan is going to be rediculously longer than what you have now.

I make my claim assuming the sport has a sticker that is substantially higher than that of your express. I guess it also comes down to what you paid for your exress vs what the sticker price was........... lots of variables here and nobody can tell you how its all going to shake out until you provide all the numbers i mentioned.

also, it is late in the model year, so deals are to be had....... but i dont think its for only $20 more a month......

I might have to disagree with you. I don't know how many times I've read on the old inner hwy, that people traded in the same year and one year old trucks on a new one. Most all of them didn't loose money and some even made money. Lmao

It's funny how everyone is an expert on vehicle loans and those people believe that there are no deals out there.

OP, I like the white one, but it all boils down to if you want the hood or the other extras. If I was looking at the whole picture I would likely get the granite truck. Good luck with your choice, man. Don't get discouraged by these want-to-be RainMan's on the internet.

Personal preference would be to get the Granite truck because it does include the Limited Slip, navigation (without needing to complete the mod) and also the park assist. The hood is cosmetic and could be added in time or you could go with a different hood all together.

My 2015 has the Alpine system. It's nothing to write home about. Not bad for a factory system but I'll be swapping them out pretty quickly.

I don't get why people have such a hard-on for park-assist.. I've never had an accident while parking my previous 3 trucks that didn't have it and this one beeping at me doesn't help me any more. The camera is nice.. park assist.. meh...

Get married, let your wife drive your truck and you will have a brand new appreciation for "park assist".

This is coming from someone that is 22 and bought how many new vehicles . That's FUNNY. Because I know a **** load more than you do about the whole process. YOU CAN NOT TAKE A ONE YEAR OLD TRUCK AND TRADE IT IN AND NOT LOOSE PERIOD. the dealer has to sell your truck that you trade in. Think about it. If I went to trade mine in tomorrow and I paid 34 for it, and I get new one for 35. What do you think they would pay for mine? Keep in mind they have to sell it. They can't give me 32 and sell it for 34 or 35. There in business to make money. If it sounds to good to be true it usually is.

I'd pick the granite one. Im partial to that color though, my last two trucks have been granite. The hood can be swapped easily as others have mentioned, and it is pretty well equipped. I personally love the park sense.

For what its worth, OP I'll offer you my own personal insight on the $20 a month issue that has taken over the thread lol. I traded a 2013 Express in for a 2014 Lone Star in July of 2014. I bought the 13 in January 2013. My term stayed the same (72 months), and the payment went up $70. I put no money down on either. Now, that price included tt&l, a warranty, and a little negative equity. So all that considered, $70 more aint bad for a pretty loaded out Lone Star.

With rebates and incentives, the dealer had $9k off sticker price of the truck and gave me an additional $2k for my trade. I also spent nearly 6 hours at the dealer negotiating. Theres a lot of moving parts in that sort of deal, but I think what most guys are trying to say is the $20 more isn't going to happen unless you put a huge chunk down on your truck, or they extend the term wayyyy out. I don't say that to be discouraging, I say that so youll be aware when you go and talk with the dealer. Go see what they say, but be on the lookout for HOW it is they claim they can make the payment go up only $20.

Think about it like this: The sticker price of the sport is probably $5,000-$10,000 more than the express. Each $1,000 is roughly $20 in payment so without a huge down payment it doesn't even make sense. Sure there are rebates dealer mark down, but essentially those will be going towards any negative equity you have. If you trade a truck in after a year, you're upside down and owe more than what they'll give you. Unless you put a down payment on it, or are willing to bring a down payment to the new deal.

Hope that helps, and good luck with whatever you decide.

Ok, I'm going for the granite crystal. Its 42,3500 MSRP for the GC Sport truck. They are giving me a sale price of 35,500. I feel that's a pretty good price. And you guys were right.. my payment didn't go up 20 bucks.. it's going up 32 bucks.. plus my insurance goes up 8 bucks a month. I go in to sign papers tomorrow :)
