Nearing the end with this gremlin infested 97 Laramie SLT 5.9L gas. Can someone please post a good picture of your engine bay focused on the firewall underneath the brake booster, under the steering rod? Replacing purge valve and canister because lines are full of charcoal. Lines are cleared now, but large line that exits canister routes to the front underneath the brake booster (SEE PICTURES).

Or, can someone please tell me where the missing line is suppose to go from here to where? This is an approximately 5/8" line with a rubber coupling on the end. I cannot find an open port anywhere, much less 5/8". The breather, intake manifold, nor the brake booster have any open ports. Can someone please tell me where this is suppose to connect?

Even the EVAP diagram on this truck is confusing to me. It clearly shows one line going to the tank, and a second going to the purge valve, but no third line. My canister has THREE lines. As you can see from this pic, the one goes to the tank tees with the one that goes to the purge valve, and the larger one comes out under the steering rod.

Just posted this on Dodgetalk as well. Whose the fastest??? Thanks to everyone!

my 99 is on the passenger side, however, it just has a vented cap at the end of the line at the fender. I can show it if you like.

Thank you for this. The only way this makes sense to me is if that is actually a check valve that allows a small amount or resistance to get unseated. This has to be an actual part with a part number, either a check valve or vent. Thanks again.

Thanks for this, but it is too dissimilar. My purge valve is mounted on the right side next to the throttle body and the ONLY evap hose that goes to the left is the one that goes around the back and left side of the throttle body and connect to the front of it. The other lines go down under the steering column to a single canister under the back of the drivers door.
