Installed it this weekend and am impressed with the seat of the pants feel, engine breaths 1,000 times better more responsive, seems to just be smoother all around. The RPM hang up I've noticed is gone. all around happy with it.

But with that said, I'm not 100% impressed with the fir and finish for the $$$ I cant get the damn thing to sit level, moves around alot for my comfort and I seem to be the only one who got one with the the rivet nuts installed on the wrong piece or at least what I could see as the wrong piece as it differs from the pictures. I also had significant conflict with the horns and a large relay mounted below them. maybe I installed something wrong but I think its all right..

I think I will make my own cover plate from either stainless or alum to cover the radiator and support again and build in a diverter and relocate the horns and relay that conflict with the original piece.

Oh and fuel milage seems to have dropped a bit and it smells as if its over fueling.

I wouldn't say it was bad, I'm just really hard to please. Its the Architect in me wanting things to line up and the fabricator in me that wants it to fit right. Makes for a horrible case of perfectionism.

honestly I would still recommend it, just not 100% impressed. I tend to still buy products that are good and improve them and modify to fit my tastes.

As I mentioned above, I'll make m own cover and improvements, just gotta go buy the welder.

The front wing is installed backwards. The wing is supposed to go behind the airbox. Then all you see from the front is the head of the screws.

As for the horn, you have to relocate the harness as per the instructions. Reinstalling that front wing correctly and moving the relay harness out of the way will give you added clearance.

Also, have someone hold the airbox in place and level while you tighten down the upper hose clamp. That should fix all the fitment issues you mentioned.

i did the same thing when i got mine and wasnt happy at first. once i got it assembled right and with a little persuasion i got it in there. the next time i had it off, reinstall was super easy the second time. OP, take it out, put the shroud on the right way and you should be good assuming you moved the wiring harness already too.

I went back and forth on that, at to what side to put it, I went for the way that didn't have the lip in the air flow direction. as for the leveling, that is how I installed it, my silicone boot was pretty deformed from packaging so im thinking that is what maybe the cause and once it takes a shape back to round I can reset and it will be fine.
Thanks for the tips.

Turbo Brian, I plan to and yes I moved the wire harness and shifted the relay to clear. I just want to get it clear out of the way. but thats not a fitment issue thats just me

Hey so I installed my vararam the other day and I cannot get mine level either. I put the air plate on the backside like hemi450 said to do. My directions were in black and white so I couldn't see where the horn is. I looked and looked but couldn't find it. The wire harness wasn't in the way when I put it in. The little flap went down right behind the harness.

1. So any pointers on getting it level
2. Am I missing the horn do I need to move the wires?
3. Should the wind flap be loose?? I screwed it in as tight as possible but it's still loose

The fit and finish of the vararam is what turned me off, something about installing a cheap looking peice (in person) with poor fitment on a 40k vehicle is not for me. They do look bad ass in photos though.

1) Probably won't happen. It'll level when you shut the hood though.
2) On the newer trucks the horn is in the drivers side fender.
3) The front flap locks into the drivers side of the radiator. There's a square cutout for that purpose.

Yeah the vararam could use more refinement, I did a little trimming on the right side of the flap were the ac lines go into the ac condenser core to make mine sit straight. image.jpg

Exactly, still like it, but was not what I expected. I will probably used it as a mold and example of making my own. I cant leave things alone, Too Picky and have a idea on how to improve it and make me happy with it. I also have a buddy searching for a original Hemi 6 pack cover for when I do build that one if I ever get around to it. What I have in mind is alot of work and alot of customizing of the radiator and such.
