I bought the truck with the VaraRam on it. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this intake. I found the seal around the filter was poor and there was dust - a lot of dust - inside the filter. Shown also is my throttle body before and after I cleaned it. I sampled the oil to make sure the engine wasn't dusted and there was high silicates but luckily not much extra iron. I replaced the Vararam with an S&B cold air kit and am much happier with it. No dirt getting by and no real noticeable difference in power or mileage. I have the Vararam and a new filter service kit for sale. I'm in Southern Alberta if you're interested.

If the seal is not good, sometimes that is caused by improper installation. It should seal tightly against the hood liner. There should be an imprint in the hood liner where it contacts the top of the Vararam. Matt at Moe's has an excellent u-tube video on how to properly install and aline the Vararam on the engine. I've had a Vararam for over 5 years and never had a problem as you describe nor the dust problem you are having. I hope your new filter works better for you.

I have to admit when I first got the kit I could see from the imprint on the bottom side of the filter to the base it was not sealing on both front outside corners, this is before I even tried to install it. I replaced the bottom foam seal with a thicker foam seal and the imprint shows it definitely seals now. It isn't a set it on and screw it down setup to me but if you'll be patient and set it on and do some adjustments in the end you'll be happy with it. So far I haven't had it to the track to see if it truly performs better or not but I've driven it enough to know it hasn't helped my truck on MPG. I love the way it looks and reminds me of the older Mopars that had factory Air Grabber hoods so I'm going to keep it.

I think the Vararam is the only CAI that has proven on track performance increases, with the exception of the custom track intake produced by Moe's Performance for racing.

I am ready to do the same type of dress-up.....have the HEMI decals. I have seen the cover in Metallic Silver under Clear...both Krylon colors. Questions are: How does the cover remove? Simple snap off? Any issues to be aware of? Also, where can I find the valve cover add-on? How about spray cans of factory colors? Mine is Copperhead Pearl.......

Cover is held on by 2 wing nuts. Valve covers come from 3G Custom. If you haven't bought the Vararam yet I think that Moe's has a used one for sale right now. If not they sell the new ones. Also might check the For Sale section here on the forum.
