I have tow mirrors and I just bought regular mirrors to use the 9 months a year I wont be towing my trailer. The drivers side mirror is cracked so I am trying to replace the glass. BUT After I removed the glass there is an extra plug on the mirror. I dont see it on any replacement mirrors. Is it important or is it for a blind spot light? All the replacement mirrors have just the two leads to the mirror .

yes They are heated mirrors but those plugs are the in the lower circle in this picture marked heat plugs. Those plugs are on every after market mirror out there. They do show the wire on the mopar replacement but those replacement mirrors are over $250 dollars But the site doesn't say what they are for. I have even tried looking up with blind spot but nothing. I wonder if its for dim mode.

That extra harness is for the blind spot or auto dimming option. If the glass has blind spot then you should be able to see a small faint triangle on the outer edge portion of the glass. If it is auto dimming then you should see a faint ring around the outer perimeter of the glass

Yes you are right. Rlaf75 I found a page that sells it after I added in the blindspot and heated detection. Thank you everyone.
I will order the glass without it and It should not effect the mirror as I don't have that fanciness in my truck...lol

The mirrors I just bought came off of a 2016. I sold my 2011 ram last months I hadn't had time to update my profile which I apologize for the confusion. and I upgraded to the 2017 Sport. It has the tow package so it has the tow mirrors . I live in Canada just South of Detroit Michigan so I only camp 5 or 6 months a year. So I bought these smaller mirrors for the 6 months i cant camp. Its pretty cramped at my work for parking so hopefully these will make it easier. People walk by the truck all day long so the smaller mirrors wont stick out as far.

I know what you mean with parking. I definitely appreciate the electronic folding on mine. I use it more often than not.

Most likely the extra wire is for the "auto-dimming" mirror. The OEMs have a plastic frame around the outside of the mirror itself, the non-dimming mirrors are glass right to the edge. Depending on the trim level of the truck, sometimes only the driver's side had the dimming feature. I don't believe any of the OEM towing mirrors have the dimming feature.
Don't believe any Gen4 trucks have the blind-spot indication on the mirrors.
