Pulled out my stereo to replace it and found this tucked away in the dash. What exactly is it and is it stock? Can it be removed?

That is an interface that allows the addition of an amp. An owner before you had a rocking stereo in there I can bet. Yes you can remove it. It is not really needed unless you plan on installing amps in your truck. But with most new car radios they have preamp outputs (the aftermarket ones anyways)so that piece is useless.

Wanted to add this If none of the factory wiring s cut the scosche should just unplug. If there are cut wires then see if you can get just the stereo wiring harness through the dealership. SO much easier to start with fresh unscrewed-up wiring.

I would like to take it out, just seems like something that can mess up but they cut the wires all up and everything. I'm just trying to piece it together and work off what they had without messing anything else up

DO one wire at a time, and if possible solder them back together. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing instead of tape to insulate the wires. It would be better if you can get a new radio harness though.

Damn, I thought I knew what it was. Guess Flux Capacitor isn't right.
