Most of the same plus tire chains, .30-.30, and my ski area season pass. Gotta love having 9 to 10 months of it just 10 minutes up the highway.

I have pretty much the same as you all. Tow straps, kinetic rope, 2 snatch blocks, tree savers, various other straps, shackles, recovery boards, air compressor, plug kit etc etc.
One thing I think Im gonna start carrying on some of my longer camping trips is a small chainsaw. Not really recovery gear but after running into a downed tree on my last camping trip caused me to back track a bit to get to our campsite i might invest in one

25 Ton shackles?
Considering there is about a 4 to 1 safety factor with a shackle, at least he'll be able to safely use a crane to lift his truck with the vehicle he's attached to without any problems.
Just for size reference, a true 25 ton screw pin shackle is about a 12" long and the screw pin is about 1.5" in diameter. This is one custom mounted on a 2" receiver:

Cell phone, cash and credit card. I like my RAM too much to take it anywhere that would justify anything else.

i think some companies making general purpose shackles could be safety factor 4 but shackles specific to overhead lifting such as van beest green pin and crosby are usually safety factor 6x WLL. a top qaulity 5t WLL shackle is more than plenty. of course i can never recomend generic branded shackles from china

You can't be too safe when picking heavy loads but even at a paltry 4X safety factor a 25T shackle is shear overkill for anything automotive recovery.
Maybe if your trying to recover a semi or military vehicle you might need something of that capacity.

of course you can never be to safe but using grossly over rated equipment makes zero sense. unless it was a dirt cheap, deal of a lifetime at the local swapmeet ,then i could understand. sounds like we are mostly in agreement on that.
the most important thing atleast for me is using top qaulity equipment. greenpin and crosby are probly the two biggest names in lifting shackles. theres no question of their qaulity or the WLL and safety factor, so theres no reason to use overkill mega shackles. maybe with china shackles youll need something overkill as the qaulity likely isnt even close to some of the other brands.
