I am putting a Alpine stereo in my 05 dodge ram. Wondering which sub-woofers would be best. I am getting the under seat box to hold the woofers with an amp.

So should I get 2 each 12' Memphis
or should I get 2 each 10' bumpers

I want the best sound, already have clarion 6x9's in the front doors. I am not very stereo knowledgeable so please speak English when explaining or recommending anything. in other words break it down to simple terms.

Thanks for reading this and I look forward to some good honest suggestions.

The louder the better.

If you get 10's, you'll eventually want 12's.

So I'd recommend going with the 12's

Now I'm the opposite. I would rather 10's in a sealed enclosure, They give a cleaner bass

I think it's what you want out of them, I have 10" subs and my bf has 12" subs.
They hit differently, the 12s hit lower tones and bass while my 10s hit mids and some lows, to me the 10s sound better on most songs, dubstep sounds BEAST in his tho lol

I have the new alpine type-r's. They are a good sub for the price, and can handle alot of power.

HemiBabe covered this well, some people get 15"s and wonder why they dont get all the same tones that a 10" or 8" sub gets.

I would do 10s my preference
Under the seat you don't have enough room for 12s unless you do a box like mine
I'll put my 4 10s in my sealed box that goes under my seat against 12s and get better sound and DB but also m truck is an sq truck not SQL

Good spec'd 10's in the right size box will out perform a 12" nominal spec'd sub in a sloppy box.

There isn't enough space under the back seats for 12's to function properly. I'd get 10's in that location. Hertz makes a shallow sub that does well for it's mounting depth and size requirements. Alpine type S is also a solid budget option depending on music preference (or type R). It's hard to make recommendations on subs without cu/ft available, amp, and music preference information tho.

For reference I have a Hertz HX300 (12" ) mounted in the front bench replacing the center console with 650W RMS (Image Dynamics q700.2 bridged) and an Ixos 5 fraud capacitor and it pounds. Super clean sub that can play tight bass as well as the powerful lows of dubstep. I had considered subs under the bench but they ultimately wouldn't do what I was looking for.

Have you talked to a local shop at all? Checked some of the car audio sites? I used DIYMA.com to get inspiration and information to build my system. I'm happy to help with some more information if I can.

i've had two 10" jl subwoofers in my bmw 3 series that i've sold, with 600w JL amp those bad boys sound insane! Any song you play, from trance, to dubstep or rap songs with deep bass it always did sound amazing! Definitely would recommend two tens vs two twelves. However, if you're looking at installing just one subwoofer i'd probably go with a single 12"..
