They're held on with adhesive.
Probably easier to use spray on coatings now, Plasti Dip & others make stuff that's removable..

Watch the you-tube video of the guy taking the cover off. It's definitely more trouble than it's worth.

My current set were "glue ons". That double sided tape destroyed the paint.

Do they sell the snap on ones that just go over the chrome? That's what I did with my 17".

No on plastic over plastic.
You could rip those off and if they look like crap you could buy cheapo black ones on ebay.

I tried to take the clad off of a set that I found on CL. The adhesive is a *****! I heated with an industrial hot air gun, even tried a mini blowtorch, and nadda. I noticed that my spare is the same rim without the clad. I keep saying that I will hit CL/facebook market and even try finding 3 guys that will trade me their spare for the chromes. But I just haven't gotten around to it.

Having the chrome center cap with the black rims is a look I really like. BTW there is no plastic involved. I almost sliced a finger to the bone.

That's exactly why it's more trouble than it's worth.

Much easier to find a used set of factory black ones, i see them all the time around here anyway. I bought a set of sport wheels for 600 off cl for my 08 some years ago.
