I have a 2016 1500 Sport with stock wheels. The fitment to me is dead on to the style and look I want, but I want to go aftermarket for summers.
The current fit is just a hair wider - thin hair - then flush, without flares. From what I have been reading, the offset is anywhere from +15 to +25, but I can’t get a “consensus” online, as every website states something different.

I want to maintain this look (see pic)667A2F66-4D1E-4A3A-8838-983F206C2EAF.jpeg as I am not a fan of wheels sticking way out or tucked way inside the fenders. What offset should I be looking at? Wheels I am looking at are Foose Impalas and a few American Racing designs.

Thanks

Here is a pic of the fitment specs for the OEM Sport polished 20x9" wheel....+19.05mm

I believe your black Sport wheels might be 20x8" so those specs might be off slightly. The stamp is probably on the same spot on the fins of the wheel so just have a look at yours,

Offset across the board for most OEM size wheels (17 or 20s) is +18 but no more than +20, so taking the average at +19 is right on the money, as previously stated.

Depending on type of tire: AT, MT, Hybrid or street tire width would determine offset. I went from the OEM 20x9 +19 with a 275/65/20 Cooper ATP to a 17x9 -6 Pro Comp 32 with Kenda Klever R/T in 35/12.5/17. I have no fitment issues but with a 17” wheel I’m close to the brake calipers, otherwise there’s no rubbing or issues whatsoever. I did a ton of research into tire widths and wheels and offsets before making my decision and I’m glad I did.

2002-2016 Ram 1500 - 2wd & 4wd Wheel Data

2016 Rebel --- 17x8.0 Wheel - Offset +18.05 mm - Back Space 5.50”

2016 Big Horn - 20x8.0 Wheel - Offset +19.50 mm - Back Space 5.25”

2016 Laramie -- 20x9.0 Wheel - Offset +19.50 mm - Back Space 5.75"

Edit:
Based on what joeygster reported above my +19,50 offsets should be +19.05.
I recorded my data in 2016, and it's entirely possible I fat-fingered it.

This is good stuff, thanks guys.

When I have a few, I’ll look inside the fins for the size stamp and work from there.

To give you some context, I want to go with a rim and tire combo that matches the size and fitment of the stockers. Looking at BFG Advantage TA 275/60R20s and keeping the street look.

Now assuming my stockers are 20x9 +19 (as Joeygster says mine may be 20x8s) what would a 20x9 +15 look like? Too tucked? I ask as AM and Foose both have wheels I really like with those specs.

Thank you

Jay,
I believe the 20x9 wheels were only on the Laramie and the Sport's is probably 20x8. If you find the Sport is 20x9 I would appreciate knowing so I can update my data.

That 275/60R20s on a 20x8 wheel will look the same. Technically it will have more sidewall bulge but it's not noticeable. After all, that's the tire that came on the Laramie 20x9 wheels and the other models with 20x8 wheels

The lower the offset number (larger numbers in negative for you non-math people), the further OUT the wheel will sit. So 4mm offset difference (~3/16") further out plus 1/2" (wheel width goes to either side of the offset). So you'd be looking at basically 1/2" further out than stock.

Ok this is exactly what I’m looking for. I am going to check the stamp and/or measure to see if I have 20x8 or 20x9. I want to run the same width wheel, and a 4mm difference rather than a half inch is something I can work with.

I think the closest you may find in a positive offset that’s close to OEM is like a +10 or +12. +14 will be a unicorn for sure. Also, since these are not a prevalent offset your wheel choices and sizes will be limited.

I have found lots of wheels running 15 and 20 offset, a few 18s and the occasional 19.
