I have a 2026 Limited Longhorn with 22" factory wheels.Tires are Pirelli 285/45 R22 Scorpion Verge All Season. I am purchasing new chrome "Snowflake" wheels. In discussion with a friend, he mentioned that the offset measurement is different between the front and rear wheels. I'm not sure if this indeed is a reality and if so does it make a difference if the offset on the new wheels is the same for front and rear wheels?

TIA, JBS

Wheels rarely have different offsets front and back. When you buy the new wheels, try to stick as close as possible to the factory offsets. It is easy to look up what the factory wheel measurements are.

Thanks Dean. I feel better now. The new rims are an offset 22mm. Which is a scant difference to the factory rims. I noticed the dates for fitment on the rims you mentioned are through ‘24. I’m not sure if they are the same as for the ‘26. I can’t imagine it being greatly different.

Easy enough to double check, just look up the specs for the 2026 22" wheels. After all, Google is pretty easy to use. Given they switched to a different motor they well may have changed but the lookup I saw still shows a 19mm offset for 2026.

Your friend might be thinking of the front and rear track difference.

Thanks everyone for. responding. I did know the spec's for the OEM rims. Being that the offset is 19.05, I was wondering at what positive. offset would I be running into trouble. Can someone give me a range like from 19.05 - 30. What issues would I be having if the offset is 8-10mm more?

Your friend probably thought about a staggered fit, which with a 4x4 wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Check your Offset change here:

Reputable rim manufacturers will know what works and what doesn't. Remember, a positive offset will put them closer to the suspension and a negative offset will put them closer to the fender.

25.4mm = 1 inch. So 8-10 mm is under a half inch and should not cause issues. The further outboard you move a rim and tire, either for looks or clearance, the more stress you put on bearings and front end components. It is a trade off.

Personally I stick as close to factory offset as possible and I don't lift my highway/city pickups either. Only vehicles I will lift and put really big tires on are ones destined to be used mostly off road. I care about function WAY MORE than looks and there is absolutely nothing good functionally, about a lifted pickup on pavement..

I bought a used 2017 with aftermarket 22" wheels that had a 40mm offset. they ended up destroying my wheel hubs, went back to new wheels with a 20mm.

Well, I can understand that! 40mm is extreme! Exactly what happened when you say "they ended up destroying my hubs? Did they get worn away? What happened and did you have to replace the hubs? According to RAM, the acceptable range for offset on a 1500 is between 15 and 25mm. That 10mm spread is the equivalent to 3/8's of an inch. BTW the chrome snowflake wheels I purchased have a 24mm offset which is within that acceptable spread.
