Hello everyone. I was wondering If anyone here would be able to help me on a problem I’ve come across. I recently bought new wheels and tires for my 2019 ram 1500 classic. They came off a 2017 ram 1500, I made sure to measure the bolt pattern to make sure it matched mine and it did. I went to Big O’ Tires and I got a phone call shortly after dropping off my truck saying “your trucks bore is too big that the wheels cannot sit flush.” I’m confused as to what was different. The old wheel owner said he did not use any sort of adapters nor spacers. Open to suggestions, just want to find a way to install my new wheels.

This got my curiosity. Looks like all rams should have 77.8mm bore dia, and some wheels will be 78.3 but will still work, just with extra clearance. So as to why they wouldn't fit, I'm wondering if your hubs have some rust or dirt built up that is making it tight and the tire shop didn't want to mess with it.

My wheels barely fit, you have to line them up perfectly. They might have tried for 30sec and didn't work so they have up.

Do you need hub centric rings? Some aftermarket wheels have multiple bolt patterns and the hub could be larger than 77.8 which is the hub bore on a ram.

I've seen several wheel manufacturers where the hub bore is larger than 77.8 and you need to use an adapter.

They typically are made of different materials, some even plastic.

@Bigskyroadglide the bolt pattern is not universal it’s the 5x5.5, but from what I understood it’s that the wheels bore is smaller than the 77.8 and won’t sit flush.
