I got a good deal on my Ram. Good enough to overlook the ‘15 next to it that was loaded, with a Pentastar w/40k on the odo. Roughly the same price. I asked myself can I live w/o the leather, upgraded radio, etc...Yes I can and I do.
Seeing these upper model trucks on here creates the green monster...
I shouldve been more patient, looked around more if I wanted a sport hood or 3.92’s or projector headlights.
Yet, I walk out of Lowes yesterday and a guy and his wife with a Laramie parked next to me are looking at my truck and say how great it looks...I swell up with pride like an Honor Roll Dad.

This is a big reason for me too. It is amazing not having to scrape a windshield

I walked around with a tape measure when I looked for a truck (the salespeople obliged). I had no idea what to expect, I had been driving a ZJ for fifteen years. My ZJ was actually shorter than my wife's CRV, cars/trucks keep getting bigger.

When my kids are older, or move out. A midsize would probably be better for me.

I hear ya! If I didn’t have to be out the door before 5am I wouldn’t mind parking outside. I simply don’t want to be scraping snow and ice that early. It’s tough enough keeping up with the driveway, and removing the berm at the end from the street sweeper overnight. Granted, we don’t always get snow here but it sucks when we do.

I owned a 2 door JK which proved to be too small. Traded that in for a 4 door JK which burned almost 2 quarts of oil each month (pre penestar). Traded that in for a crew cab express. Then traded that in for my fully equipped sport.

They’ve reworked everything with the new JL. I’m sure it will be revamped again before I’m in the market, but at least it’s an option I wouldn’t mind taking.

I have a badass 16 1500 sport but I want a badass 2500 Power Wagon... Problem is my 4th gen barely fits in my garage, and by the time I get tired of it the new 5th gen will be my only option. The extra length of the 5th gen 1500 will not let me close my garage door. Never mind trying to fit a 2500 with a 6’4” bed. Yeah it’s that tight. The garage sorts my weather, security, and detailing needs. When the time comes, I will opt to get back into a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited and resort to using my 4x8 high side trailer whenever I need to haul something. Luckily I’m only at 42k miles on my truck, so who knows what will happen between now and then.

Makes me so glad I don’t have to use a garage to park in. Actually I’ve never parked any vechicle in a garage in my life.

Except for a few very minor things like bed step, Hellwig sway bar and HID's (all of which are not available from the factory), I got exactly what I wanted in a truck. I really couldn't be happier with a different truck!

Money, always money. And it's not that I couldn't take out a loan for ***,*** dollars and have the super-cool-cab with all the options, but I don't see the worth there.

Vehicles in general have too many gov't mandated requirements anymore that make even the base models too expensive for the average guy to afford anymore without taking out a ridiculous loan.

There should be an "I'm a responsible adult" option that lets you pick the options you want, discard any you don't, and have them build you a reasonably priced, well built truck.

Tradesman. Im happy with my basic tradesman. I can add console or leather and still have manual seats without all the fancy heat and power stuff. I like a “nice” truck but don’t like the electronic things. My only real power option I like is power windows and power adjustable mirrors lol.

I was shopping for a new, untitled 2017 or 2018 Crew Cab Bighorn as fully optioned as possible in the $37,000 - $42,000 range after rebates.
Then a "certified pre-owned" 2016 Crew Cab Bighorn caught my eye. The truck had been a fleet truck for an executive and he had ordered it with a bunch of desirable options including the HEMI with 3.92 LSD and 8.4 NAV with Alpines. The truck had only 7,600 miles on it and was super clean. So I decided to make an offer and we settled on $28,000. That's when I said to myself that the deal was just too good to pass up.
I love the truck.

[QUOTE="averageguy, post: 1909533, member: 29313". I almost wished I got air suspension until I heard enough about problems with that it made me glad I didn't get it. [/QUOTE]

Wise decision to say the least. Have mine fixed after 6 weeks of visits to the dealership. I still don't have fate in it. I ordered it this way so no-one else to blame but me. Since getting it back I'm constantly carrying a tape measure to check the heights on all 4 wheel wells. So far so good, last night it dipped to -11c and no drop and truck is level.
Fingers crossed.

Been real happy with my truck. Never owned one before but I had a good idea of what I wanted. One thing I would've wanted is to add is rear locking diff. just because it's nice to have.

I added a 2018 sport grill and hid retrofit in the quads and fogs so happy with the lighting. Nothing else I'd really like to do other than bilstein 5100 when the stocks crap out.

It looks like most people either like their truck other than doing some reasonable modifications, or they bought within their budget and are upgrading as they can. I don't think the factory could ever offer enough options to please everyone because some peoples needs are very specific.

Well, since MY 19 stays basically parked, I could not justify to myself to spend another 25K on a truck for some improved interior niceties that I just do not need, though always nice, LOL

Only thing I wish I had different were more aggressive gears. 3.92 or 4.10. Don’t think they offered 4.10 as OEM on my crew cab though

Otherwise I’m good/happy with where I’m at.

None of those answers fit the reason why I don't have the truck that I want. The reason I don't have the truck that I want, is that Chevy doesn't make the 1979 C-10 Custom Deluxe (250 I-6 with 3-on-the-tree) any more. If Chevy would bring back that truck, exactly like it was in 1979, I'd drive my Rebel into the lake and use the insurance money to buy one.

State Museum employee and new highly optioned truck are mutually exclusive. Overall I have the truck I would have bought new with very few exceptions except it was 5 years old with more miles than I would have liked.

Tow mirrors and perhaps radio upgrades are about the extent of my desires of stock additions. I'm handy enough to handle them with the references on this site.

I've bought exactly one new vehicle in my life. Learned a bunch from it and will never do it again. Too much depreciation in a New vehicle.

For me it was an impulse buy on a slightly used Tradesman. But it has nice cloth buckets, carpets, handled great, fast as hell.
So I get the truck then I come on here and see all the stuff I "Need".
I need those floor mats. Gottem
I need that rhino liner. Gottit
I need that lowmax tonneau cover. Gottit
I need that premium CLUSTER. Gottit
I need those audio controls. Gottem
I need that leather wheel. Gottit
I need that upper glove box. Gottit
I need those door cup holders. Gottem
I need that pedal commander. Gottit
I need those upgraded speakers. Gottem
I want bigger wheels. Don't gottem
I want bigger tires. Don't gottem
I want some kind of exhaust. Don't gottit
and on and on..Leather..oh for heated cooled leather..And that awesome console. Mmm padded stitched dash..oh yaa..
If I never came on this site I would have gotten most of that stuff. But I still paid much less then a higher trim level truck. Obviously.
And I do love the thing.

They come in handy at times out here - be a great place to keep tools and crap (but then, I'm about to build a lockable bench on the covered back porch, so...) But then, it rarely gets ugly enough to warrant one. It snows like maybe 2-3x a year at most, and usually less than a couple inches. Frost? Meh - even the hardest frost comes off quickly enough (unlike on the old minivan I got rid of... that damned thing was cold-blooded.)

Maybe someday I'll build a shop, or simply move the 24'x24' shop the poor previous owner had unwittingly built... on the lowest (and most flood-prone) part of the property. Otherwise, I'm in no hurry or worry about it. The number of days that it stays below freezing, even up here in the Coastal Range, is maybe a month, tops.

My needs changed. I had the truck I "wanted" - 2000 Tundra SR5, 230,200 miles. Worked that truck hard skidding logs out of the woods, hauling firewood, brush, yard machinery, and all manner of sundry "stuff" .Toyota replaced the frame at 174,000, and I did mostly everything else it needed. But rust was eating away the passenger side wheel well on the bed, the drivers door, and other areas. Still, I loved that truck because it took lots of work abuse.

Then the four wheel drive took a dump the day before a snow storm while loaded. I realized I didn't need to be laying under a truck banging on the actuator in snow at 70 years old.

Found this Ram 1500 2 days later at my dealer (a personal friend since '86). Except for the 5.7 bed, it's everything I would have put in a new truck. It's even the same color!! I added Westin nerf bars and the TruXedo TruSport tonneau.

This is the truck I will love....

(...and the wife is crazy in love with it too, so I got that going for me...)
