I have a 2014 ram. The win module started acting up. Sometimes the key will start the truck and sometimes it will say wrong keys and the truck will not start.

I ordered a new win module programmed with new keys. Unfortunately, the win module did not have the correct electrical connection. So, my factory electrical plug in does not fit into the back of the new win Module.

I read many post here on the site about win modules and I became a little confused.

1. If I order a new win Module with keys and correct electrical connection will the keys start my truck? Will I still need someone with a computer link the keys to the win module.

2. If I order just the win module without the keys will my old key have to be reprogrammed? After I got the key reprogrammed will I still need someone with a computer to get everything working?

I am just a bit confused. I thought I had everything figured out. Any comments or replies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Bypass it til you figure it out. You can also look up tubes on cleaning old one that is how they fail carbon buildup.

The first thing I did was take the old win module out and clean it. That didn't help. How do you bypass the module?

Bypass is simple and absolute, even if you use it to diagnose only. If the car starts and the issue is resolved, then indeed the issue is the win module, as that video shows it is only bypassing the win module. Two wires, one to cig relay which starts the circuit and black wire which sends it to your starter. Both wires meet at the push button, all you did was bypass win module, so if it works, you can roll with it or replace or clean win at that point.

Need help with Faulty WIN module. I purchased a used module + key from a local junkyard. I retrieved the pin (2265) from original WIN using AlfaOBD. Swapped in the new WIN. Erased the old VIN from the module. I am attempting to reset the configuration using the donor pin (3881) but am getting a failure. Then I have to wait 30 minutes before trying again. What am I missing?

I attempted the process laid out in this forum (link below), but he used a brand new Dorman module. It did not work. When I would try to write secret key from PCM, and start the procedure, it just runs forever and doesn't seem to do anything. I waited for an hour and it was still waiting so I stopped the procedure.

You have to make the replacement (donor) WIN module VIN the same as the vehicle VIN, as that pin is used in many modules.

I have been intermittently not able to start my truck, even touching the key-fob on to the start button. It worked for like a month when I took that button off and blew it off w/ compressed air.

tonight I ordered this
(ebay key ign switch)

so I should be able to just plug this in and it should work. I believe the antenna in the button is weak. I programmed a brand new key and it starts it when i touch the very tip of key to the button.

WIN module won't work out of the box. Has to be programmed to the truck via VIN number.
Looks like the seller does that for you and programs the VIN when you order the module.

Update: I purchased a new ignition button / win module. It plugged right in and starts the truck, works as if there is no problems. However, the problem did go away, and come back so time will tell. But im confirming it was plug and play with no alfaobd
