Wiring leds into the trucks 12v source help

So in order to wire a led into any 12v source, what kind of resistor do I need to put inline with it and why. I am looking at adding led lights to my foot well areas.

Don't need to that im aware of. Look in the diy section I think there is a write up in there

Only time you may need a resistor is if you're replacing a turn signal bulb. the extra resistance stops the signals from flashing too fast and from setting a MIL.
