Hey guys, I have a second gen RAM 1500, 5.9 engine, automatic transmission (unfortunately). I have been doing hand to hand combat with the rear taillights and I am about to say to heck with it and just take it to a shop. You guys are my last hope of fixing it myself.
So the situation is this, the right side running light, brake light, and blinker light all work just fine. But the left side is the problem child. The running light is fine, but neither the blinker or the brake light work.
So I checked the fuses and all seems to be good there. From there I used a light checker and when I pulled the bulb out of the socket, one side runs the running light, but nothing on the other side. I pulled the short wiring harness reviling a 4 pin plug, one of them is the running light but nothing on the other three.
Looking at the socket, it has three wires running to it, major, minor and ground. According to the internet of things, the blinker is run by the minor wire and the brake light is run by the major wire, but here is the kicker the running light is ALSO run by the major wire.
I am stumped, I would think that if it was a grounding problem that the running light would not work, what should I look at now.
Thank you!
Mark
