I bought a '03 Ram 1500 SLT QC 4x4 with 182,000 KM/s. As long as the engine/trans, frame, and any other major components are sound I'd go for it. Body rust can always be fixed. Mine was bad on the right rear fender and rear cab corners. If you want to check it out take a look at the pictures I posted. There are before and after pictures. The title of my thread is '03 Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 (Pics).

I bought my 2008 1500 Laramie qc 4x4 with 160k+. Previous owner used it as his mobile office and was OLD like with maintenance... Just take it to a trusted mechanic and have them give you all the nitty gritty on it.

Other than saying 146k miles an that it's a 4dr you didn't say the price or if it's a one owner or motor. C'mon man you got to be more descriptive

Why would you say that? He got a new truck so it's sitting.. Could probably get it for less

Just make sure you can test drive it and make sure the front diff and transfercase work properly as long as it runs and drives ok and no lights come on it sounds like not a bad deal..

As the other guys suggested, as long as everything is mechanically sound and the truck runs and drives without any issues or warning bells, then I'd say go for it if it's in good shape and a fair price.

Yes but a 12yr old 4.7l truck at 147k miles could end up costing you well over 2700 to keep it on the road especially being the first produced 4.7 model..those motors were plagued by gummed up cylinders, overheating and blown blocks..just put it through the paces and make sure it all runs and if you go ahead and buy it just be prepared to do a little freshening up to it..thats just me i like the peace of mind :) plus its fun to do depending on how extensively your maintaining/upgrading the truck

Spark plugs, tranny fluid and filter, differential fluid and some fuel system cleaner...simple things that may keep you from needing to replace anything major for a while..even maybe throw new shocks and front springs your rig will ride brand new again..Never underestimate the power of preventative maintenance!!

Im about to do this to my dads hemi durango because its been 63k and hes only ever changed the oil and filter lol

Thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't sure what you meant, but yeah I was planning on doing most of those things. First thing I do when j buy a dirtbike. Change the oil and oil filter. You don't know how it was taken care of... Speaking of that... Is there any way to see if there are Service records for the truck for free?

Went and looked at the truck. I like it, it seems to run good and everything works... Just reading about all the 4.7 problems I'm now a little hesitant about buying it

For 2700 you could swap out the freaking motor and still be ahead on a 4x4 quad cab

If its not having problems now, it probably won't as long as you take care of it and don't beat on it.

Price dropped to 2500. I can get it for less I think. But I'm not looking to do a motor swap. Not yet at least. The only thing I'd have to fix is the rust above the fenders and that's it
