Towing mirrors

Both my outside mirrors have water in them. They are heated and I understand the two wires for that. But there are two additional wires to the glass as well. When I asked about this at the Ram dealership the head technician said it was for the remote movement buttons. I laughed because the glass pivots on the mechanism it attaches to. They listed just the glass for over $400. Are these auto dimming mirrors?
