Brake cleaner is good to clean out and de-grease. After you do that, I would add some dielectric grease to keep the contacts clean and rust free.

I used WD-40, put the tube into each plug hole and sprayed away the crap and lubed the connections at the same time. The I discovered CorrosionX which is far better at corrosion than WF-40.

I use brake cleaner. Just give it a blast and air dry it.

i use wd 40 then blow it out with the air gun attachment.
