I had been planning on ordering a 2017 Outdoorsman when ordering became available. Then, I found out here in the forum that the ODM is gone for 2017, replaced by a pkg that can be ordered for any trim. Started looking at 2016 ODM on dealer lots, but today ran across a 2016 Laramie nicely equipped and with 3.92 LSD that I can buy for the same $$ as the nicely equipped ODM I've been eyeing. It's 12k off list. I'll be occasionally towing a 5000lb box trailer, so the 20" wheels on the Laramie are a downside, but the Laramie I'm looking at is equipped with tow mirrors and brake controller. Anything else about the Laramie I should be considering as far as towing concerns?

I am a buy and hold truck guy (still driving my '01 Dakota!) so need to live with my decision. Haven't been able to get any solid price quotes yet on 2017s, but I expect them to be basically the same truck (Laramie) just more money. Whaddaya think- jump on the Laramie and hope it handles my payload and tow, stick with the 2016 ODM, or wait for the 2017s?

Thx,

DG

Only thing I can think of is the Laramie is generally heavier giving you less payload. About 1000-1200lbs if you check the door were the tire pressure sticker is it will tell you max cargo not to exceed x amount. With the 5.7l with 3.92 gears won't hardly even knowtice the 5k behind you 20s or not.

Buy it, you won't regret it. For the same money you get a decked out model, with a few really nice touches you wouldn't get in the Outdoorsman.

Laramie comes with a lot of standard goodies.......go for it. 5000 pounds should barely break a sweat with the 3.92

Those interiors are much nicer in the laramie. Nice leather seats and trim compared to the fairly basic outdoorsman.
