Exhaust Y pipes?

Talked to the shop that I got my magna flow installed and tried to get them to install a y pipe instead of the stock one. They said that it was messing with emissions and wouldn't do it??
Was just wondering if it is worth actually changing out the y pipe on the exhaust??

Also what size would I need for a 2013 ram 1500 express? have the stock dual pipes

No real improvement will come from just doing a y-pipe, you need to do a tuner and headers for it to be effective. I did my 2011 y-pipe only with muffler and i gained absolutely nothing from doing it

After the cats there is no worry of emissions. Probably won't gain a ton. I did a buddy's truck with the magnaflow dual 2.5 into 3in and he said he felt some trottle responce but I'm not convinced. I won't go through the hassle of doing it on my truck unless I get high flow cats and headers.

Two local shops told me it's not worth the hassle that there's no real gain. Maybe some placebo effect if anything.

Unless you are installing a complete exhaust system it won't do anything.

Save the Y-pipe swap for if/when you install headers. Without upgraded manifolds, you wont gain enough to make it worth the time or money.
