I didn't want to hijack the other thread but this level thing has got me a little confused...

First part of confusion... From reading the front needs to go up 2"-2.5" to be 'level'. Some kits are front 2" or 2.5" but some like the Rough Country are 2.5" Strut Spacers in the Front and 1.75" Coil Spacers in the rear and the one posted in the other thread which is 2.5" F 1.5" R... So what gives? The Rough Country one is only a .75" level? Or is it supposed to have a slight rake so its more of a ~2" lift kit and the word 'level' is misused?

Also, tires... I'm needing some direction. I want to put on some more aggressive All Terrain tires on the truck with the stock rims. Part for look and part for fun. 99% of the time it will be on dry/wet pavement but I want something that will dominate deep snow, light mud, dirt, etc. I was looking at the Pro Comp tires but heard they do awful and are unsafe on ice. (Ohio we get more ice than snow)

So what I'm looking at now is Cooper Zeon LTZ or Discover A/T3, Nitto Terra Grappler, BFG Rugged (All) Terrain T/A, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac or AT/S or SilentArmor, or a few others. Any good, bad, or ugly on that list?

Also, I've noticed that most of the tires above are the "LT" type and only come in 275/65R20 or 285/60R20. Any issues with running these size tires? Right now the truck has 275/60R20.

Thanks a head of time for the help.

On mine, I ran a 2" front spacer for about 3 months before my lift. It worked fine, truck still had a slight rake, but not anywhere near as bad as factory. 2.5" should get the front sitting level, but I wouldn't have wanted to add anything to the back, otherwise you'd keep the same rake you have now, or close to it.

Your best bet, forget the coil spacers to level your truck. Get the Bilstein 5100 adjustable front shocks. They have 4 settings you can put them at - most people set them at 2.8" which is the max setting. That will get the front up level, then if you need to you can always at a .75" spacer to the back if you feel it nessary. As things in the front settle though, it should sit pretty well even.

I'd recommend getting measurements now to see where you're at. On level ground, measure ground to the middle of the fender, front and rear. That will get you an idea how much you're off and what you need to get it sitting level.

As far as tires go, I can tell you the Terra Grapplers are nearly useless on wet roads so I really can't see them doing much for you on ice/snow. The BFG A/T are a pretty decent tire overall.

I stuck with a 2 incher because I didn't want to have any issues with cv vibrations

I'm running the 305/55/R20 Cooper's, and so far love them. Haven't had anything to really "test" them on, but I've never heard anything bad about them. The goodyear duratracs have been said to be riding like on bricks.

I had the Terra Grapplers on my last truck and was pretty happy with them. I didn't have to use them on ice but I had no problem on wet roads. I'm looking forward to seeing what your truck looks like after the level since that's what I think I'm gonna do. Thanks for starting this thread by the way, I had the same questions as you.

So lifting the front more than 2 inches without a 'real' lift kit can cause the dreaded vibration issue?

on the 06-08's with 2.5" spacers - they seemed to be more prone to the "death wobble".........not sure about the 4th gens.

the front end is exactly the same as the 06-08s.

On "difference" - in mid 08 Dodge removed a 1/4" plate that sat on top of the strut. So, HBS sends that with their kits. Other companies........had no clue. :D

i have the Rough Country leveling kit. its actually 2.5'' in the front and .75'' in the rear, not 1.75''. I havent had any issues with wobbling in the front and ive had it on for 9000+ miles. The truck sits very close to level, ill take pictures for you today at some point. The front is just a hair shorter than the rear. As for tires, I have Nitto Terra Grappler 285/70's since i do mostly road driving as well but do a good bit of driving on the beach in the summer and get snow here in the winter. They are AMAZING on the beach and arent loud at all on the road. Ive also gone through some mud with them and never had to use 4wheel drive.

Holy crap googled death wobble!

So I'm sort of inclined to leave it stock now... Just kidding. Anyone on here have that issue or is pretty rare?

1500s are not prone to death wobble. You may get a slight vibration from the front, but no death wobble. death wobble only effects solid front axle'd trucks - heavy duty, etc.

I shouldn't have called it death wobble...I just saw other people refer to it as death wobble.
