Driving home with 1,000 miles on my 17 ram and my sidewall blew out on my Goodyear wrangler. Goodyear will replace it for free but im not too confident with the tires now. I did a search and this sounds like its getting more and more common with Goodyear and side wall failures. Just thought I would share.

Yours lasted 46k? I was lucky to get 30k out of a set of SR-A's.
Ha ha , yep mine are worn down , but even .
I rotate every oil change (5 -8 k ) and maintain even pressures @ 39 - 42 psi.

my tires last a year or two, then I get rid of the vehicle with tons of rubber left on the last 19 or so

My OEM Goodyears are coming up to 45K and just now getting close to the wear marks so I still have about 30 days before I have to seriously think about replacement.

I wouldn't replace them with same, but overall except for wet traction I cant complain.

I do the same, but my truck sees about 60-70% tow use. Cheap tires don't last long for me. I have 80k mile Bridgestone's on my truck now with about 50k miles on them and they are pretty much shot.

I had SR-A's on a Dakota before and got 55k out of them. Must've been lucky I guess.

Weight plays a big role in tire life. Dakota's weigh about 1500-2000 lbs less than a 1500. I'm towing an 8000# trailer and transferring roughly 12-15% of that weight via distribution to my truck. SR-A's are a soft compound tire. They didn't last for chit.

That and ever set of SR-A I've ever owned became hard after a year or two. The rubber doesn't take well to a lot of heat cycles. It stiffens and you'll notice the tread area becomes almost shiny. That's when I roast them off in glorious clouds of smoke. :happy107:

i never got that out of any of my sets of SR-A tires but that was how it was with the goodyears dodge used to give the rams, i dont remember what they were but they came on the 3rd gen rams and a few of the early 4th gens, those were horrible but you could get some miles out of em, my dad had one set all the way up to 70k, but they had damn near no grip from like 40k on, they seemed like the tread would never wear off but they just sucked in every way

I can't express how much I hated the SRAs on my 14 Sport. It should be illegal to sell such crappy tires. The wet traction (snow, rain, boat ramps, etc.) was awful. I put on a set of BFG TA KO2 and it's like a new truck. It's nice not having to deal with tire spin / slip now that the RAM has real tires.

To recap, Goodyear tires suck.
