I don't know if this is considered a mod, however,
I have a upper glovebox which has a cutout for a light. I noticed that the wiring harness is there, plugged into a blank filler piece.

I ordered a light switch on e-Bay: MOPAR OEM 4565022 Glove Box Lamp for $12.45 delivered.
Popped it in and it lights right up.

Cheapest thing I have done to my truck since I bought it.

I kinda like not having the upper glove box.

But having it lit would be much nicer!

Something as simple as this should just be standard with the upper glovebox.

I mean, the hole is there, the mount is there, the wires are there and it's not an expensive part

I guess I need to look and see if the underhood wiring is there,
Because I don't have a light there, either.

I can't believe that they found it to be more cost effective to run two different pieces than just put a light in every one. It is massively expensive to run separate parts (I work at a tier 1 supplier).

The only thing I can think of is that the cost actually balanced out and that is one "feature" to try to sell the higher end trim packages.

It looks like you have a 194 bulb there. The Sylvania LED replacement is 168-194LED.
Autozone seems to have them for $10.

What do people typically put in the upper glove box if it doesn't have the door? It's more like a cubby hole.

It's no different than the under hood light plug being there and simply needing to buy the harness and light. Also the same with trucks that didn't have the USB in the rear of the glovebox and finding it is ******* in the harness unused. I really don't get stuff like that at all.
